sail away with calypso cruise wear

November 29, 2010

We are dying for Calypso‘s 2010 cruise collection that was introduced last week.  Loving how comfortable and laid back all the pieces look – especially the second top worn with jorts.  Calypso is pretty pricy but we feel that their stuff will hang in our closets forever and the quality and textiles are amazing.  Be on the look-out for the great sales they offer… we will be!  (photos taken from www.calypsostbarth.com)

momiji dolls

I’m dying for one (or two, or four) of these hand panted Momiji dolls.  So cute and tiny, Momiji are message dolls “inspired by friendship and little kindnesses. It’s about filling life with memories and messages.” Turn them upside down and there’s a space for a secret message to be folded.  I blame my mom for my obsession with small toys and trinkets like these 🙂

Every spring and winter I look forward to finding Hermes‘ new ads on the back of my Elle Decor magazines. Each one is more gorgeous than the next.  Such creative ways to use the scarves and tie into the seasons.  I want to live in that igloo. Top [winter 2010], Second [spring 2010], Third [winter 2009], Fourth [spring 2009], Fifth [winter 2008].  All scanned by me.

bye bye, blue hands

November 22, 2010

A few weeks ago we went on a sister hunt for some new pairs of jeans.  Within the very first wear, our hands and nails were turning completely blue from the dark dye of the jeans.  Smurf hands=not so appealing.  We had heard from a Dallas store that specializes in denim that washing a new pair of jeans with a cup of vinegar will help to set in the dyes.  Both of us tried this method for our first wash and what a success it was!  No more blue hands and the color didn’t fade a bit!

start spreading the news

November 19, 2010

This past Tuesday the wonderful and talented ladies that are A Lovely Being, the Neo-Traditionalist, and Lox Papers revealed the news that in January 2011 they will be launching a monthly lifestyle magazine called Matchbook: Field Guide to a Charmed Life. If you aren’t already dedicated readers of each of their blogs you should be.  They are smart, whitty, stylish and their charm oozes from each of their posts.  We are both truly looking forward to the first issue of Matchbook and wish this fabulous trio (Fallon, Katie, and Jane Lilly) much love and success!
