Blushing

Over the holiday Mol and I went to dinner with some friends and our friend Michaela (the funniest, most one of a kind person I know – could never be replicated) said that she “loves Facebook and she loves Sephora”.  So random.  But then Molly and I were in a Beauty Brands with our mom and while our mom was looking around we ran away to go “play in the makeup”.  I didn’t realize Beauty Brands had makeup (usually go there just for nailpolish), but they do.  They only carry a few brands, Tarte being one of them.  We were…

We were having a grand time at the Tarte counter because our mom has their eye lash curler and it is a-mazing.  Way better than Shu Uemera.

After the intense lash curling, scoping out their mascaras, and trying some “inner rim eye brightener” we made our way to Tarte’s blushes.  (I know you’re loving this play by play).  Second to mascara, blush is my most favorite beauty/makeup product.  I feel a million and ten times prettier with a rosy cheek – especially during these lovely winter months where my pale face resembles a Twilight vamp.  I have always used Nars Cactus Flower and Orgasm blushes, but am never opposed to trying new things.  Tarte’s Amazonian Clay 12-hour blush is nothing short of a miracle.  I may have put mass amounts of it on trying to do myself up like a Barbie (pink lipstick and all), but I swear the stuff stayed on for 12 hours and we both felt prettier for the entire rest of the day (despite Molly’s massive hangover and napping in the J.Crew dressing room stint).

Neither of us can stop thinking about the blush and both considered asking for it for Christmas (stocking stuffer?), but 4 weeks is a long time to go without some pretty cheeks.  I have a feeling that we’ll both cave this week and make the purchase.  Needless to say, I’m pretty sure Michaela is right – who doesn’t love places like Sephora and trying on massive amounts of makeup for free?

  1. Thanks! I actually picked up dollface, not sure if I tried on the Tipsy or not. I also bought the eyelash curler, if you can believe it, I am still using the same Maybelline curler from at least 15 years (if not 20)–yuck. Thanks for the recs!

  2. JENNIFER – we actually loved the Tipsy coral color the best. It looks like a bright orange in person but looked great on – sort of similar to the glow you get with NARS' orgasm blush but without the shimmer 🙂 Hop over to your local Sephora and play around to find the best shade!!

  3. I just got a Tarte sample box at sephora for having 500 points and I'm obsessed with it all! You have to try the amazonian clay serum, I'd never tried anything like that before and I'm in LOVE!

  4. I love those blushing faces! This makes me want to go out right now and buy some blush. It just made me realise that I’ve been using a blush I got in a sample bag for months now, and I don’t even like the color! Thanks girls, for the enlightenment!

  5. I ADORE Tarte products! Did you check out their gel blush too? It gives you such a rosy, dewy glow. And FAST too. The story behind the company founder is interesting too. I think she was doing a PhD in psychology when she started Tarte out of her NY apartment!

Had no idea about the eyelash curler though — will have to try (perfect, because I'm in the market for a new one!)
