…The eve of 2012

December 31, 2011

Time to prepare to ring in the New Year!  This year honestly feels like it passed in the blink of an eye…  We sisters are so appreciative of everything that 2011 gave us – but we can’t wait to see what 2012 has in store.  Cheers to making this the best year yet.  Oh, and tonight is obviously not the night to shun the sequins… We toast to each and every one of you readers tonight – although we don’t know many of you personally, you feel like dear friends and we truly wish you nothing but the best in…

Crazy Stupid Love

Meet my new favorite movie – Crazy Stupid Love.  More like my new obsession.  In the past 24 hours I have already watched this twice.  You know when you watch a movie and you literally fall in love with it and want to watch it over and over again?  Yep, that’s this for me.  Call me crazy, but I love watching movies and shows about family dynamics, so this one is right up my alley. They could not have picked a better cast of characters for the movie.  Steve Carell is obviously as funny as ever and Julianne Moore is as gorgeous as ever.  Do you think I could pull off red hair?  I’m now thinking that Molly is actually pretty lucky to have her strawberry blonde locks:)  Emma Stone won me over in Easy A and The Help and now this movie too.  She is an amazing actress in my opinion and such a truly natural beauty.  Once again, wishing I was a redhead.  Now, on to Ryan Gosling.  I am speechless over him in this movie.  His body is killer and he looks devilishly handsome throughout the entire movie.  Yep , I think I’ll take him.

Have any of you seen this movie?  Do you love it as much as I do?  And if you haven’t seen it…highly, highly suggest you watch it so that you can fall in love with all of the characters like I did.

Pretty In Pink

Early, early this morning our grandparents dear friend and our Great Uncle’s sister, Ann, passed away.  Molly and I were lucky enough to spend some time with Ann last February in Austin and both of us bonded with her immediately.  Only in her 70’s, Ann was probably the spunkiest “older” person either of us had ever met.  We joked with her about the movie “The Kids are All Right” and she joked that she was going to sport a belly button ring on the cruise she would be going on the following week.  She asked me how I got my…

She asked me how I got my skin to glow in the dead of winter and immediately wrote down the name of the Clarins sunless tanner that Mol and I use so that she could go buy it for herself.  I can’t quite explain the bond that we formed with her that weekend in February, but it is something neither of us will ever forget.  We called our mom on our way home to Dallas and gushed about our new-found love for Mimi and Papa’s friend Ann.  Less than 2 months ago Ann found out that she was extremely sick and filled with Cancer – the doctors gave her months to live.  Both Molly and I are heartbroken over the sudden loss of such a wonderful and amazing woman with so much to offer to others and are having a hard time making sense of it all.

Ann had the prettiest silver hair and complimented it with the same bubble-gum pink lipstick every single day.  The color of lipstick that I only wish I could pull off.  Since we like to use this blog as a sort of diary to catalogue the things that we want to remember, this pink-lipped post is in honor of sweet Ann and the friendship we formed with her. Whenever either of us think of Ann we think of her pretty pink lips, her vivacious personality, and that weekend we spent with her in Austin.

Remember when I said I was going to do black additions in my bedroom (this post)?  Well it’s happening… I bought this desk chair the other day and I’m this close to finalizing my lamp purchases for my desk and bed side table.  I’m still planning on getting this “I do not regret anything” print for one of my walls and I think having one of these ampersand “&” screen prints above will look smashing as well.  Created by the girls of ampersand design studio and blog and available via their darling Etsy shop, each print is screen printed and…

I’ve always liked the whimsy of the & symbol and I think that having it on my wall will prompt me to think “And…? And what will YOU do today?”  Plus this particular & is very nice to look at.  I know you guys are thinking that with my affection for neons that I would go for either the pink or green but I’m actually torn between the gold and the silver.   But I’m definitely leaning more towards the gold – the chip-board background will tie nicely to my pine furniture pieces.

This whole room makeover has become a real obsession… For some reason I feel like my life won’t be complete until my bedroom is?
