Winter White

This past weekend, my boyfriend’s sweet mom bought me a pretty white Christmas tree for Mol’s and my apartment.  I had been talking about how much I had been dying for one and its perfect:)  I don’t know what my fascination is with them, but I’m a little bit obsessed.  Growing up, our mom always got two different real trees – one plain and one with “flocking”.  You know, that pretty white stuff that looks like snow.  The flocked tree sat on the landing of our front staircase in front of this huge, ledded glass window and the whole sight was absolutely breathtaking.  I loved those flocked trees with all of my heart.

A real tree covered in messy faux snow wouldn’t work too well in our tiny two-bedroom, but this new white one looks pretty magical until a flocked tree can be reality.  Our colorful and crazy array of ornaments that we have collected since we were babies (our mom has given us an ornament every year for Christmas to build our collections) – can you say “Baby’s First Christmas”? – stand out so nicely against the white of the tree.  Funny thing is though, I am not sure the tree is “full” enough with ornaments.  Our moms tree at home is always dripping with ornaments.  Literally.  Seven children = some full tree branches.  I am thinking that to fill in the gaps some pretty basic, colored orb ornaments would be perfect.  Not that I am going to go out tomorrow and buy for myself with Christmas right around the corner, but these guys are pretty fabulous.  No?

While counting down the hours until Friday (12 to be exact), I am drooling over these amazing winter white trees above.  God, what would we do without Pinterest?

Dying to see this tree. Christmas in LA is so sad – no one decorates here! You are so lucky that you've a giant collection of ornaments. What a brilliant idea on your mother's part. I'm going to do the same for my children :)

These are awesome! I love a good white tree. I think people assume they are just tacky, but I think they can be so stylish when done right. #1 and #6 are my favorites!
