So this week has been interesting… Not just because I have been coming off my high of being at Alt Summit but also because I had gum surgery on Monday.  I didn’t want to talk about here because for one, it’s a really gross procedure to get your gums grafted and I figured I was such a tough cookie that I’d recorder like that.  At the sake of sounding dramatic, the hour and a half procedure was about 200 times worse than what I was expecting.  Pain. In. My. Mouth.  I kept telling everyone I would be back to work…

Pain. In. My. Mouth.  I kept telling everyone I would be back to work on Tuesday but I was so swollen and in so much pain I took all day Tuesday to rest up.  First full “sick day” I’ve ever taken in my 18 months of working so I felt like it was deserved.  Good news is that I felt SO much better yesterday and every day I get more accustomed to my mouth full of stitches.  When I smile I have to hold my cheeks because it feels like something will break if I don’t.  It’s awkward and endearing – kind of like me.  I’ll just wrap this story up by saying I’m really thankful that today is Friday.  I love the words of wisdom above – but to me it would be perfect if it said “think less, live more, nap accordingly.”  This weekend Sally and I will be doing a combination of fun things (the Dallas Modern Homes Tour and good food with lovely friends) and relaxing things (girly movies and apartment organization/de-cluttering).  And naps.  Because as much as I hate saying “I’m tired” (who isn’t tired?!) I am – tired that is.  Happy Friday chickens!  Can I just say that this week you all have been rockstars?

  1. BLAIR – I feel tons better, thank you for your sweet note! I reallllly hope my toothpaste wasn't the culprit for my gum issues… that would not be cool after what I had to go through last week! I love that room too – all the "stuff" is just incredible!

    xx.Molly

  2. aww that sounds so painful. my dad had one a few years ago, then realized the thing that caused the problem was his toothpaste! love that room and feel better.

  3. VICTORIA – thanks for thinking I'm endering :) I still insist that I am awkward, too. Awkward is better than normal, right? Right?!?

TRINA – you are so sweet! Yes, I can't wait to have this weekend to recharge – Alt really DOES take a lot out of ya! I'm also sad we didn't get to meet… Next year both Sally and I will be there so it will be really nice to be back with her and I'm making a point to meet all the people I didn't get to connect with this year!

ALBERTINA – haha, yes – the rain in Dallas finally stopped just for me! Today has been lovely and I can't wait to check out the homes tour tomorrow with my camera in tow… If I get good pics you'll be seeing them here! Talk soon, lady!

    xx.Molly

  4. So glad you are feeling better! and that the sun is shining just for you today :) Enjoy your weekend and "nap accordingly". I wanted to do the house tour but won't be able to now, bummer. I hope you take some good picks and post them? I saw the rockbrook one….the setting is amazing with the creek and everything. But I wouldn't live there. Some other ones look fab! Enjoy!

  5. Oh my. that would really. hurt. I hope you are feeling way better this weekend and yes do rest up. I'm tired from ALT and then jumping back into life full speed ahead + 4 kids. And speaking of ALT I'm so sad we didn't meet! Next year for sure! Love your blog and love that it is a sister thing!!!!!

  6. SARAH – Ahhh you totally know what I've been experiencing! I had to get it on my lower teeth – so fun and my swollen chin and bottom lip that can't move are SUPER attractive. I'm hoping that my next Monday I'll be able to brush my teeth like a normal person – fingers crossed! SO pleased you are loving the Stila liner!!!! What color did you get it in? Such a fun splurge to take you into the weekend :)

  7. Oh my god gum graphing is the worst, I had it done about this time last year. I definitely remember the doctor saying after about three days you'll be fine but no talking or chewing until then. I was like what NO talking thats a pretty impossible task for me and I was over the four days worth of shakes. Those four days were death for me, so I feel you. I hope you feel better soon, hopefully your experience wasn't as painful as mine. Was your graphing top or lower gum, mine was lower and right in front so everyone could see the beautiful mess that it was :( On the upside, I got some Stila liner yesterday and I um, LOVE it!

  8. CATHERINE + JACQUELYN – you girls are too sweet! The procedure was BAD but luckily the recovery has been faster than I though! Trust me, I milked it and allowed my self to feel pitiful all day on Tuesday while I was home :) Hope you both have fantastic weekends and thank you for your sweet words!
    xx. Molly

  14. seriously i feel faint hearing about your surgery…pls have someone come to your house wait on you hand and foot and give you a foot massage—you deserve it!

  15. ALEX – I really am feeling SO much better now! Sister Sally has been taking wonderful care of me so having her + lots of Blue Bell icecream has been the best medicine :) Wish you were here to go on the Modern Homes Tour with us! I'm bringing my camera along so hopefully I'll get some nice vingette shots I can post here on Monday! Enjoy your weekend, lady!
