It’s no secret we love the Glitter Guide… We stalk the site daily and can’t get enough of their great series and postings on all things wonderful in fashion, style, decor, and entertaining.  So we obviously kind of (literally) screamed when the girls asked us to participate in their “must-haves” series!  We had so much fun putting together our list of all the things we are currently loving and coveting right now… The GG team did such a fabulous job making our picks look lovely and you can check out all of the details and read our write-ups here!  Thank…

Matte About You

February 29, 2012

A little bit ago I posted about my nail polish “rut” here.  What a rut to be in, right?  Thanks to my sweet friend Hannah I have found the most perfect solution.  Ever.  Enter: Essie’s Matte About You top coat.  A top coat that can turn any nail polish into a matte version of itself.  Genius.  How am I just now finding out about this?  I claim to be a nail polish connoseur yet I don’t know about the coolest thing in nail polish world.  Somehow, I had forgotten all about Hannah telling me this until the epiphany I had…

Have any of you tried this?  I plan to use it the end of this week and will report back on my findings.  The reviews are raving so I have high hopes!

Girl Crush: Jessica Chastain

February 28, 2012

Until seeing the movie The Help, I had never laid eyes on nor heard of the cuteness that is Jessica Chastain.  I honestly think she was one of my most favorite people in The Help when she played the naive Celia Foote.  Her bright blonde hair and matching personality made it hard not to love her in the movie.  I couldn’t help but fall for how endearing she was when taking in Minnie the maid and treating her as if she were family – eating at the same table as her and cooking right along side her – especially in…

I have convinced myself that Chastain is this same character in person too, and after watching the above clip from the Oscars Red Carpet, I think I am right.  You must watch it.  She. Is. Darling.  She brought her “Nana” to the Oscars with her for Christ’s sake!  Not only does she have quite the winning personality (or so I’ve decided), but she is downright be-au-tiful.  The kind of natural prettiness that she must wake up with every morning.  Agh I love her.

A few more reasons to be obsessed (all found through creepy Google stalking): Chastain is an animal lover and owns a 3-legged dog AND she played a character named Sally Ann (!!) in the 2009 movie, Stolen. Do you think she would be friends with me? I think its fate.

Underthings

It is weird that I’m a little bashful about publishing this post?  I’m not a prude or overly modest but Sal and I have never discussed under things before and I was second guessing myself… But a bra is a bra – we (women) all wear ’em – and these bras are particularly pretty. I am a big fan of sheer shirts that let you see a little bit of bra under them.  A peek of black under white, the hint of a pretty pattern, or a tiny pop of lace makes for enough unexpectedness to what might have been…

I am a big fan of sheer shirts that let you see a little bit of bra under them.  A peek of black under white, the hint of a pretty pattern, or a tiny pop of lace makes for enough unexpectedness to what might have been just an average outfit.  I tend to play it pretty safe with my bras… In case you wanted to know.  When you work in a professional atmosphere you can’t really get away with under pinnings being a pivotal part of your weekday ensemble.  But when the weekend comes I love adding dimension to what I’m wearing with a black bra that will just slightly be seen through what ever top I’m wearing.  It’s not about showing cleavage (not that I have much to speak of) but just adding a bit of underlying sass.

These pretty lace “Emilia” bras by Cosabella for J.Crew are so feminine and lacy but have some nice structure to them… I already have the Cosabella soft bra in black from J.Crew (and love it) but I like how these ones have underwire – a little extra shape never hurt any one 🙂  And if you want to discuss more about undies, the Cosabella low riders are unbelievably comfortable.  And the colors are sort of amazing.  …Talking about bras on here was a lot less intimidating than I thought!

Nixon Love

I have longg been obsessed with Molly’s all black Nixon time teller watch.  It adds just the right amount of edginess to her otherwise classic attire.  Its also a great every day watch that you don’t have to worry about during the day to day things like you would a nicer watch.  I have this Michael Kors watch that I absolutely adore.  My boyfriend’s mom gave it to me for my birthday last year and I wear it on a daily basis.  I love the fact that it is oversized, almost looking like a man’s watch, and the navy face…

I love the fact that it is oversized, almost looking like a man’s watch, and the navy face mixed with the rose gold is perfection.  I cannot tell you how many compliments I have recieved on the watch.  Many of my friends have Michael Kors watches and you can really see the wear and tear on them – on the links as well as the faces.  I really really don’t want this to happen to mine so I have tried to take extra special care of it.  I am thinking that one of the above watches (all Nixon Time Teller Acetate watches) would be great to have and rotate with my current watch.

I can’t decide on which I love more of the four above, but I am leaning towards the tortoise watch with the black face.  I can’t explain just how cool Mol’s black watch looks, but its killer and I think that this watch could mimic that look without us being matchy matchy.  I also think that the Watercolor version of the watch is beyond different and fabulous all at the same time.  The denim blue color would go with everything.  And for our mama who just celebrated a big birthday and has been looking for a tasteful white watch, this is the prettiest white watch I have ever seen.  Almost mother of pearl looking, no?

Nixon is defiitely a favorite of mine in the watch department.  They have a range of watches that really can’t be beat.  Another thing to add to the never-ending list!
