NARS Curiosity

February 10, 2012

I am kind of a makeup junkie.  But more with trvial things, like lip colors and eyeshadows.  Not with my every day tried and true products.  Those I have been using for years.  But sometimes I get a little curious and want to change things up.  Its February and my skin is probably the palest it is going to be.  I am trying to emprace the pale is pretty thing, but I still feel like I need a little pick me up.  Even my daily application of Clarins self tanning gel doesn’t seem to be making the cut.   No,…

No, this is not where I confess to you that I am going to go fry my ovaries (as our mama calls it) in a tanning bed in order to feel better about my pasty white complexion.  Instead I might just make a dive and purchase the NARS brand spanking new tinted moisturizer.  Seeing as the stuff literally just came out in the past few weeks, I am guessing none of you can shout its praises and make me feel better about buying it?  I have a good feeling about it as I am a NARS addict and swear by half of their products.  As do my mom, Molly, and our grandmother – but I still get nervous about dropping nearly $50 on a daily use product unless I love it.

What about you guys?  Any favorite tinted moisturizers?  I used to use Stila sheer color – loved it but felt like I needed a change.  Stila now also makes an illuminating moisturizer as does Laura Mercier.  My friend Kelly uses Bobbi Brown’s version and loves it.  I’ve tried it and it definitely gives you that glowy feeling and smells amazing.  Wishing I could just buy mini bottles of each one of these and decide which one is my favorite and then make the big purchase for the full size.  Now that would be ideal.

  1. I use pixi illuminating tint-the best find EVER! It's a UK brand that they now carry at target. I discovered it 4 years ago and haven't found anything that tops it!

  2. LINDSAY – I am definitely going to do this!

ALEX – Went to a Sephora today and they haven't received the product yet…boo! I am going to hunt down a Nordstrom here that carries NARS.

SARAH – Everyone loves the Laura Mercier! May have to sample that as well?!

COLLEEN – Hmm..may have to look into this one as well!

LR – We will keep you posted once we try it!

CANDICE – I have actually seen that stuff in Sephora…once I run out of my Clarins tanning gel, I may have to try it!

TALIA – Molly and I both SWEAR by the Amazonian Clay blush by Tarte. It has changed our lives…seriously!

ALLISON – Tanning beds are bad bad bad…I haven't been in about 10 years I bet. You should try the Clarins Gel Sunless Tanner. It definitely makes a difference in these winter months. I am going to get a tester of the Laura Mercier…everyone LOVES it!

JANELLA – Woop woop! You have convinced me! Can't wait to try! I'm a NARS fan through and though.

    LAUREN – Yes you do!!

EMILY – I am going to test the Laura Mercier when I test NARS!

  3. I was walking by the NARS counter the other day at Nordstrom and the lady asked me if I wanted to try the new tinted moisturizer. I am extremely pale, too, but it matched my skin tone perfectly. I have used like every tinted moisturizer under the sun from Laura mercier to Clinique to aveeno and this NARS one is definitely my fav. And she gave me a really large sample so I could test it out for a while! Totally recommend it!

  4. I was just talking about how this is my"whitest" time of the year. I am so pale. I swore off tanning beds about three years ago and I still haven't adjusted to this feeling every winter. Fortunately, it's kind of a motivator to get to the gym so when my pasty legs make their 2012 debut in a month or so, they might at least be toned! One of my favorite products is Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer but unfortunately nothing can really help me right now other than sunshine.

  5. You should definitely try St. Tropez bronzing mousse. I think it cost around $30-$35 a bottle and can be found at Sephora. It is definitely not something I use everyday, but is good for a quick fix on Friday night out. Super easy to apply and will give you a great glow for the evening (and usually the next day). I highly recommend giving it a chance!

  6. I haven't used it, but I would love to know what you think if you do try it. I bought the Blowfish eyeliner per your rec and love it!

  7. You can go to a makeup counter and ask for samples of both! Whenever I want to try a new product I just ask for a sample at nordstroms and they always let me sample before paying for a product! That way you don't have to waste $ and get to find one that works best for you.
