Personal Pinhole Press

A little while back Molly posted here about a newfound obsession, Pinhole Press.  Pinhole Press is a site deticated to creating “beautifully simple photo gifts”.  Their products are just that, beautiful and simple.  Both of us had been dying for a chance to create something via the Pinhole site, so when my boyfriends and my anniversary was approaching I jumped at the chance to create a photo book.         Words cannot describe the way I felt when the book that I had created came in the mail.  It was absolutely gorgeous, but at the same time so…

It was absolutely gorgeous, but at the same time so perfectly clean and simple.  The pretty matte pages and plain white backgrounds really make each photo stand out.  Which they should – the pictures are the main attraction of the book, right?!  Because I have more pictures than I know what to do with, I created the largest size in their photo books – the 97 photos version.  The book is literally a thick coffe table-like book that is bound in a linen color of your choice – very good looking.  What I may love the absolute most is the cover page – an edge to edge picture of your choice.  It really is a work of art.  As Mol said in her post about Pinhole, who needs the wild backgrounds and fonts, isn’t the focus supposed to be on the pictures anyway?!

Since creating my book and seeing the final product, Mol and I have sent many friends and coworkers to Pinhole who have all created similarly beautiful picture gifts.  Now I am just trying to find someone with a baby or a baby on the way to dive into their new and wonderful baby department.  Too. Cute. For. Words.  Even if you don’t have a baby you should probably just go on to check out all of the precious baby pictures.

Sidenote: Yes, we are obsessed with our dogs.  Should probably make my next Pinhole Press project be a book just with pictures of them…

Hellooo Elle

March 29, 2012

I find it pretty humorous that I am posting about pieces of “costumey” jewelry two days in a row, because it is a rare occasion to find me wearing anything other than my nice, every day jewelry pieces or, if I’m feeling realllyy crazy, I’ll a pair of gold drop earrings from Calypso.  Despite my boring jewelry routine, there is one pair of actual statement earrings that I literally wear at least once a week – Kendra Scott’s Danielle Earring in the Mother of Pearl version.  I swear, these earrings literally go with everything and they instantly make me look…

Just this week I was pretty stoked to see that Kendra Scott had tweeted about a smaller version of the Danielle coming out this week (last night, actually!).  The smaller version, called the Elle, might be even more up my alley than buying a second pair of Danielles and I can see myself wearing them tons.  Yep, I’ll just add those to the never-ending list!  Don’t mind if I do.

Hopefully you checked out Chrissy’s She Wishes She Was Wearing guest post last week – because her co-blogging counterpart from Roses & Rags, Kaitlin, is with us today!  Like Chrissy, Kaitlin has style for miles and we can never seem to get enough of her closet peeks and outfit posts… She looks just as awesome in a blazer and heels as she does in ripped boyfriend jeans and flats and it’s obvious that her style is all her own.  AND she wears a better arm party than any we’ve ever seen.  Just saying.  We love that both Roses & Rags…

QUESTIONS of STYLE:

.Describe your personal style in five words or less:  Bright, fresh, comfortable, smart.

.Who/What inspires your personal style, influencing what you’re drawn to and what you end up wearing?  Jennifer Aniston sums it up for me.  She is constantly seen wearing jeans and a leather jacket with a plain tee, and at night exudes sexy confidence wearing a cocktail dress and heels. Although she keeps the jewelry to a minimum (I tend to stack), she is the perfect example of my daytime casual to nighttime flirty. I am all about chic comfort and you can have that without being a hot mess! It’s all about maintaining comfort and style and she balances that perfectly.

.What is an item you cannot live without or what are some of your wardrobe essentials?  I absolutely cannot live without a pair of skinny jeans. Rag & Bone or J Brand are probably my favorite denim designers, and find myself always in the jean section of the store. They are my go to problem solver and look perfect with a pair of killer heels and a smart blazer!

.What is your most recent purchase?  Stella McCartney Falabella Bag!!!

.Where have you found some of your most treasured style items?  Like Chrissy, I too favorite WINK NYC. It has amazing accessories and I often walk out with one of them. Intermix and Zara are on top of my list as well. Intermix always has something that catches my eye, whether it’s Brian Atwood Pumps or the perfect Tibi cocktail dress. Zara is my go to store for style with a great price. Perfect tweed blazers and maxi skirts for spring that won’t break the bank.

.What is your go-to jewelry routine?  Gold, gold, gold! If you open up my jewelry drawer, the majority of my pieces are plain gold, or gold plated with a pop of color. I wear a watch and ring everyday or else I feel naked. I am a firm believer in arm parties – the more the better!

.What are some of your make-up must haves?  Bobbi Brown Eye Corrector works miracles. I use this every morning and it instantly wakes up my face. If you want to know about a bronzer then ask me, because I have probably tried every single one. I wanted the perfect glow, and I have finally found that with Hoola by Benefit. My secret weapon is Dior Lip Glow. One swipe and it gives your lips a natural flush.

.If you could meet any designer who would it be and why?  Victoria Beckham. I feel like no one ever remembers that she is in fact a designer of her own line, but every time you see a picture of her she is photographed wearing her own pieces! All of her clothes are tailored perfectly to your body and are incredibly flirty and feminine. I think she designs exactly what she would wear and what she would look best in, staying true to her persona. For a night out on the town I would definitely slip into one of her bright numbers and a pair of YSL heels – you’re ready to go!

.What’s the best style advice you’ve ever given or received?  Diane von Furstenburg put it perfectly when she said, “The biggest mistake a woman can make is not to be herself in public or private.” If I’m not comfortable in what I’m wearing then there’s no use in forcing it. You want to exude confidence both in public and private and always stick to what you know best – yourself.

Her outfit is the perfect combination of comfort and stand out style – how incredible are those jeans?! AND there are no words for how jealous we are of her most recent purchase… We hope you all head over to Roses & Rags to check out all the great content she and Chrissy continue to put out… How can you not be obsessed with their taste level and candid personalities after reading their guest posts?  We just heart them to bits!  Thank you again, Kaitlin!  xx

Strange, yet Awesome

March 28, 2012

I have been meaning to post this song for awhile now but kept going back and forth on whether or not I wanted to put a music video of a naked (practically) man and woman on the blog.  So I am prefacing it like this: I love the song, but the video is stranger than all get out.  Because I am so hooked on this song I felt as if it just had to be shared with you all.  The culmination of the instrumental music and their amazing voices rock my world and I can’t seem to stop listening.  (Video…

J.Crew Gets Wild with Resin

March 28, 2012

Have you all seen these at J.Crew yet?  Back in December when I was home for Christmas break my mom and I were at J.Crew looking into the jewelry case and she told me to “guess which one she wanted”.  Of course, it was the bracelet version of the tortoise resin frog necklace you see above.  If you knew my mom, this little jewelry line that J.Crew has done is so her.  Needless to say it only took one guess by me that her pick was the froggie and we walked out of the store that day with the…

I had kind of forgotten about that bracelet until Mol and I popped into the Crew last weekend and I saw that they had also created a giraffe version of the resin link necklace.  I don’t know what it is in me, maybe my obsession with animal/creature things or my obsession with tortoise shell – regarless, I am smitten with these pretty pieces.  The necklaces are a perfect mix of classic (the tortoise) with a touch of whimsy in the enamel animals that act as the clasp for the jewelry.  Almost like a Kenneth Jay Lane mixed with Ralph Lauren if you catch my drift!?
