Excess

I’ve written about coffee table books before (my last round up was here) and Sally and I are pretty open in sharing our love for them. Most males will tell you they are a worthless thing to collect – because let’s be honest who really reads them – but many women can attest that they are a key element when adding essential “decor” elements to a room. And really, the best books can stand alone as pieces of art.  Sally and I have ours stacked by color on bookshelves in our main room and use them to add height below…

There is something very “adult” about collecting coffee table books – and the assortment you have says a lot about you (whether you realize it or not). Above are some recently acquired favorites (Bobbi Brown’s Pretty Powerful is amazing) and the rest are high on our wish list or on my radar to gift to friends. Speaking of gifts, I was a lucky birthday girl this year to receive this pretty pink tome from Bradley (the conosure of coffee table books). Impact is a book you will want to read… A look at the past 50 years of CFDA (all your favorite designers will be in it!). Having gotten permission to copy Amber’s use of Taschen’s lucite bookstand, I now display a new spread from my favorite new book every day.
  1. Great books! I adore coffee table books – they ARE art! I've had that Tim Walker Pictures book on my Amazon wish list for ages!

  2. I was literally just thinking about coffee table books this morning as I got ready for work. Now that I'm all settled into my new house and don't have to think about moving for a long time, I think it's finally okay to start buying book (they can be such a nuissance to move around!). Definitely will be checking out some of these books, and you old post, for inspiration!

  3. I love coffee table books! I have the Lauren Conrad style book and an Audrey Hepburn book on my table!

  4. Because I spend so much money on books throughout the year, I allow myself to one coffee table book each Christmas. Definitely in need of a long afternoon browsing bookstores to find the perfect one for this year!
