Jumpsuit Fever

May 29, 2013

I like to think that my style palette is expanding as I get older. It’s like 25 year olds that have never tried sushi but now love it—I’m slowing finding there are things that use to scare me that I’m now down for trying. Jumpsuit are a great example of this. I mean, they are essentially a onesie for adults and I couldn’t figure out why people wore them or what the appeal was. And don’t you basically have to get naked to go to the bathroom? Kind of frightening. But now I think they are so chic and awesome…

I mean, they are essentially a onesie for adults and I couldn’t figure out why people wore them or what the appeal was. And don’t you basically have to get naked to go to the bathroom? Kind of frightening. But now I think they are so chic and awesome and I’m fully committed to trying to find one that I love and can wear as an alternative to a dress. There’s an easiness and architectural vibe that I love. And I think I like them because they walk the line of dressy and casual, and the women I see wearing them (like the stunners above) have such confidence and ooze coolness. I found some pretty great options I’d like to try on (try on to make sure I don’t have that weird loooong butt thing that can sometimes happen with jumpsuits – scary) and hopefully invest in. Thoughts? Do you have the fever or are you like I was, scared of having your pants connected to your top?

My favorites: best navy // best basic black // best black + white // sexiest back // best small floral // best ombre print (on sale!) // perfect white // best dressy and strapless (perfect for a wedding) // best price ($88!) // most outrageous (I mean, would you ever?)

Style Guide Perfection

Has everyone gotten the latest J.Crew Style Guide in the mail?  It is by far my favorite catalog yet – if only for the first story that took place in Tanzania, Africa.  The pieces are fairly simple and the styling is relaxed an unassuming.  Seeing everything on model and philanthropist Liya Kebede has me wanting to copy and paste every look on my body and transport myself on a safari.  Alas, I settled for scanning my fave looks and rounding up the pieces below.  Here’s to hoping I can acquire a bit of the newness for my closet this summer!

Cannot even tell you how good it feels to come off of that long awaited three day weekend.  There’s something about just having one more day in your weekend that makes it that much more fun and productive.  You get ample time to do both and end the weekend feeling full and happy.  Obviously now I am looking forward to the upcoming weekend, most especially because we have some good plans for it.  Friday is my last day of school for the year – wooopp woop.  One of the many benefits to being a teacher:)  To celebrate school being out…

One of the many benefits to being a teacher:)  To celebrate school being out for the summer, my boyfriend and I are heading to Austin Friday to see the Avett Brothers in concert that night.  Can’t. Even. Wait.  They’re pretty magical live.  Then, it gets even better because we will go from Austin to Houston to visit the McCarthy family for a little bit of festie fun at Houston’s Free Press Festival.  Two days of friends, food, and tunes.  I would be lying if I said that I don’t have a darn good time planning what to wear to these things, and I’ve got to say that I’ve become quite good at it.  Ya know, embracing my inner “hippie” for the weekend – its good for the soul.  Shorts and tanks are at the top of the list for the fest (I picked this up this past weekend) – if I know Houston, its going to be hot and humid.  I wouldn’t mind making any of these picks mine for the occasion – starting with those J.Crew shorts.  The options are completely endless, so much so that we’ve dedicated an entire Pinterest board to festival finds:)

Ray-Ban Mirrored Aviators // Rebecca Minkoff Crossbody (on sale!) // Elephant Tassel Charm // Knit + Chain Bracelet // Missoni Head Scarf // Madewell Bikini Top & Bottoms // Lily Aldridge for Velvet Tank // J.Crew Shorts // Gap Sandals // Madewell Basta Surf Dress // Arrowhead Earrings // Bead + Feather Bracelet // Supergoop Serum // KORS Gold Sandals // Shona Joy Chambray Patchwork Shorts // Madewell Ace + Jig Tank // Cosabella Soft Bra

Guess what?!  Our three day weekend is finally, finally here!  And, in honor of the occasion, this could very well be the first round up of items where I am equally in love with each and every thing.  I want to make all of these amazing things mine and stat.  Obviously I have prints and colors on my mind this week, but at the same time I can’t help but love a great neutral tote or ballerina flat.  I have heard incredible things about Yosi Samra flats, but have yet to own a pair.  This might be my chance –…

P.S. A bunch of you asked about Molly’s clear pouch from yesterday’s post… you can buy it and other sizes here at Truffle.  They’re our absolute favorite!!! AND they’re offering 20% off from now through Memorial Day – use the code MEMDAY!
