Last Day of June Reminders!

June 30, 2013

Happy Sunday and ohmehgosh it’s the last day of June! I wanted to remind y’all that today is the last day to to use the code APOT when you check out at Ariel Gordon to receive a 25% off discount! Go get a menagerie necklace, diamond lariat, or Love Knot ring before the end of the day so you don’t miss out… Also, you may have heard the rumors that today was the last day of Google Reader’s existence. The rumors are true—wamp wamppp—tomorrow it will cease to exist. To save all you subscriptions you can import them into Bloglovin’. I piggyback off Alex’s suggestion…

Words can’t explain how HOT it is here in Dallas right now.  I know weather talk gets old and no one really cares, but its all that seems to be on my mind right now.  Stepped outside for 10 minutes max. and am now drenched in sweat.  So much for showering today, right?  The weekend is the perfect time for it to be this scorching hot.  I plan to make a Target run to by some sort of floating device and lounge IN the pool all weekend long.  Its the kind of hot where laying BY the pool really isn’t…

Much. Fun.

My Meditation Instructions

June 27, 2013

When feeling overwhelmed and generally “meh” about things, I suggest doing the following: 1) Pull up Pinterest, 2) Free your mind of all thoughts and distractions (all the better to absorb the beauty before your eyes), 3) Skim, pause, click, drag, arrange, add, delete images (repeat until you just right), 4) Present found images to people that appreciate visual gorgeousness, 5) Bask in a feeling of bliss and calm. I swear Pinterest is my form of meditation. It took all of 20 minutes and the steps above for me to de-stress and find my happy place today. I find it…

I swear Pinterest is my form of meditation. It took all of 20 minutes and the steps above for me to de-stress and find my happy place today. I find it so soothing to find images that “go” together and I know it’s not a skill, and all the images are borrowed and not my own, but it makes me feel like a boss. Annnnd, back to werk peeps!

Seabags

June 27, 2013

Until our trip to the beach, I had yet to see a “Sea Bag” in person.  And had actually only seen them through J.Crew’s website.  I have a deep appreciation for J.Crew’s Brand Partnership’s like the one they have with Sea Bags.  Not only is it a great idea to bring other brands in, but its also mutually beneficial.  They open my eyes to brands like Sea Bags that I may not have known about if it weren’t for these partnerships.  Props J.Crew, mad props.  While shopping in town one evening on our trip, a darling store we went into,…

There’s something about seeing and feeling a product can make it that much more special.  The bags really and truly are made out of sails and feel like it, too.  They’re nice and sturdy but really, really good looking.  The clean lines and contrasting colors are pretty much perfect.  It was even better that the bag in Opehlia’s had a gold crab claw on it.  Who doesn’t love a pretty, bright and shiny gold paired with sail-cloth and rope straps?

Upon seeing the bag in person I visited the Sea Bags site to check out what else the brand has to offer.  Tote bags, wristlets, coasters, and other accessories are all made from recycled sails in the company’s Portland, Maine workshop.  So. Cool.  I am partial to the totes as I am still (since last summer) in the market for some sort of beach/pool tote that can double as a purse and look decent.  I am also definitely partial to their metallic pieces like the lobster claw, star, moon and star, and stripes (so.good).  How about this one?  Also a favorite.  The brand’s wine totes are also a favorite.  What a perfect gift paired with a bottle of wine for a party host this summer?!
