Babies Love Pumpkins

October 31, 2013

Happy Halloween! A few weekends ago I had the pleasure of paparazzing my friend Jess, her husband, and their precious daughter Evie at the Dallas Arboretum. Each year the Arboretum sets up this insane (in a good way) pumpkin village and pumpkins line the walkways and it’s this festive, magical atmosphere that really makes you want to jump in a leaf pile or make babies pose on top of giant pumpkins. The shots of Evie with all those orange veggies just melt my heart—she was literally hugging pumpkins bigger than her, it was the cutest thing ever. Jess was nice…

The shots of Evie with all those orange veggies just melt my heart—she was literally hugging pumpkins bigger than her, it was the cutest thing ever. Jess was nice enough to let me post a few of my favorite pics of her sweet girl but check out this post she did on the blog she shares with her two friends to see more pictures and get the details on what Evie is wearing.

Forget eating candy…I could just eat Evie she is so darn cute! Can’t even wait to see pictures of her in the monster costume that Jess made her for trick-or-treating. I’ll be dressing up as a little school girl (of the non-slutty variety, Instagrams will be posted to prove it) and passing out candy with Amy (who revealed her costume today!). Enjoy the holiday, friends! Boo.

Outdoor Living

October 31, 2013

Molly and I moving into a new apartment was an upgrade in more ways than one. Granite counter tops, wood floors, and huge closets were all major selling points for us. Actually, it was really the closet size that sold us. Another bonus to the new place? Having a pretty good-sized porch all our own. Right now, the weather is practically perfect (minus the rain we’re experiencing right now) to spend the evenings on the porch with some good tunes and a beer. Its just cool enough to where you may need a sweatshirt which is such a nice change…

Right now, the weather is practically perfect (minus the rain we’re experiencing right now) to spend the evenings on the porch with some good tunes and a beer. Its just cool enough to where you may need a sweatshirt which is such a nice change from the boiling heat of the summer. Ever since traveling to Marfa and spending 95% of our time while there enjoying the outdoors, I have been craving more of that in my life. Sadly though, I really haven’t partaken in much outdoor living since that trip. Truth be told Molly and I don’t even own any outdoor furniture since we never had a need for it at our last place.

I first learned of Industry West when Bailey pinned one of their chairs on Pinterest and have since been lusting after practically everything on their site and trying to find a way to work their pieces into my world (this is begging to be my desk chair). Industry West was created with the idea of being  a solution in mind: making good and iconic design accessible to everyone. Hence their completely reasonable price point. Perfect for 20-somethings like ourselves who are looking for great design and quality at a semi-affordable price. Need another selling point? Industry West places a huge emphasis on giving back and supports organizations that help children, family, the arts, and community-building through each purchase made.

Our need for outdoor furniture gives us the perfect opportunity scoop up a little something-something from Industry West, especially since they have a great selection of furniture that is suitable for indoor and outdoor use. The Marais Side Chairs come in the best colors and I think it would be so fun to get a grouping of chairs in all different colors for out on the patio. Maybe a little side table too to house beers, books, or portable speakers? If I had kids, I would 100% be getting the children’s version of the Marais chair which is on sale for a total steal. The perfect indoor dining or play table as well as outdoor dining table!

Less is More with CC Cream

October 30, 2013

As much as I love makeup and learning about new products, I’m often drawn to a “less is more” look. This photo of Elin Kling stopped me in my tracks because she oozes a vibe of comfortable, confident, and natural. I’ll never be a girl that goes without makeup but when my day-to-day look is super casual, I might as well keep my makeup routine to a minimum. While searching for products that would make my skin look like Elin’s (in my dreams) I discovered Olay Total Effects CC Cream and easily subtracted a few products and steps out of my morning regimen.

Not to be confused with the BB Creams that were the talk of the town, CC Creams like the one from Total Effects combine SPF, an anti-aging formula, and beauty balm into one easy to use product. You get the quick and flawless finish of a beauty balm along with long term skincare benefits that combat lines and wrinkles, loss of firmness, visible pores, uneven tone and texture, and dryness. It’s my multiple must-have and it gives my skin a pretty, healthy look. I just add a light application of bronzer, curl my lashes, and touch-up my brows for an easy “less is more” look for daytime. I might not look like Elin’s twin but I feel better knowing that my makeup is working to do good things for my complextion…so much better than going naked!

Some Sales + Steals

October 30, 2013

Last Wednesday one of my students mentioned the fact that it was “hump day” and I nearly cringed. Am I the only one who absolutely HATES that phrase? That word hump is not okay in my book. So much so that I’m even having a hard time typing it. I wish there could be a new/better name to refer to the excitement that is Wednesdays – one that I felt a little bit better about saying. Instead, we’ll just continue to celebrate this particular day of the week with our Sales and Steals, k? Here’s to two more days until…

Maison Labiche x J.Crew Tees

October 29, 2013

The moment I saw these Maison Labiche tees in J.Crew’s new arrivals last week, I knew that I had to make them mine. As a person who is white-tee obsessed, I love to get my hands on those versions that are extra special and unique – the white tees with a twist. Maison Labiche owners, Jenny and Marie, are described by J.Crew as being “Parisian cool-girls” and they have most definitely found their niche. Adorning the classic white tee with hand-embroidered sayings. The tees are sold in a tiny boutique in Paris and upon researching the brand further, their internet…

Adorning the classic white tee with hand-embroidered sayings. The tees are sold in a tiny boutique in Paris and upon researching the brand further, their internet presence is quite tiny as well. Maison Labiche’s site was all in French, but the visuals of the cheeky tees and sweatshirts is really all you need to fall in love.

Add this to the list of one of the many reasons I appreciate J.Crew – they have done an exclusive collaboration with the Parisian brand and opened my eyes to a new obsession. Leave. It. To. Beaver. Because I can’t pick a favorite between the two sayings, “Ooh la la” and “I Love You”, I will most likely end up convincing myself that I need both (right now they would be an extra 25% off with code SHOPNOW!). It is after all an exclusive collaboration…
