Hayden Reis Bags

November 14, 2013

We discovered the amazing sail cloth bags by Hayden Reis towards the end of summer and we’re sharing them now because what we initially intended to be a beach/pool tote has become an everyday and travel tote. I love it when products surprise me and literally work year round and day to day. I’d heard all about how great sail cloth was but I had never tried out a bag in the water-resistant material before…I went with one from Hayden Reis because of all colors, designs, sizes, and customizable options available. What I quickly discovered after just a few uses was that sail cloth is super lightweight (even if the bag is gigantic) and extremely durable. At first I didn’t know if the sail cloth would be “comfortable” to carry because it seems stiff at first, but the material really softens up and gets a cool “patina” of crinkles on it that I love.

My neon pink and kelly green stripe “Miller” tote came with me to the pool often and was put to big time use during our move to a new apartment as I lugged loads of shoes and clothes. Then it made trips with me to Houston and around Dallas when I spent days in the car going from place to place and needed to carry around my camera, a change of clothes and various other stuffs. As I was starting to pack stuff for a trip Sally and I are taking to Austin this weekend I thought how cute the bags would be to give as holiday gifts. Duh. Figured I needed to tell you all about them asap.

I can think of a ton of different people I’d love to get a Hayden Reis bag for: my mom and Bailey (interior designers who constantly meet with clients and need an organized bag for fabrics, samples, and swatches), my sister and cousins in college (indestructible bags are pretty necessary at that age), my friends who are engaged (new initials or last name embroidered on a bag to take on the honeymoon and to use after!), sweet families Sal and I babysit for (a cute diaper bag that can be wiped down!), and other creatives that sometimes need one big bag to hold a lot of smaller bags. And I wouldn’t mind getting this evil eye tote for myself so I have a bag in a different color way. With four sizes and styles of totes and four different “accessory” bags, there are so many options. The tote I have is the Ditty size (like the boat, not like Sean P. Ditty Combs) and I love how it’s huge but has so many pockets and I clip a  sunscreen pouch inside so I have something that zippers closed (currently being used for my phone charger!).

To spread the love, Hayden Reis is offering A Piece of Toast readers 15% off and free shipping on any orders between now and Wednesday, November 27th – just use the code APOT when checking out. My favorites include: this Ditty tote, this fun swimsuit bag, and this pouch!

  1. Oh goodness. I need to stop reading about the bags you love. I just got my first Lo & Sons Brookline bag this week, and I love it. Thanks for introducing your readers to unique, fun brands!
