Mmhmmm Maxi Dresses

Effortless maxi dresses are a summer staple for the two of us. Given the choice of a mini or maxi, we typically go for the longer choice every time – the length and shapes of most maxi dresses make them so comfortable and easy to throw on and accessorize for almost any summer event or occasion. This season we’ve been carefully choosing maxi dresses that are crisp and chic in color and pattern so that they can transition from day to night and work just as well as a pool coverup as they do for a date.

One thing we will say: unless we are wearing a long dress for a wedding, we opt for flat sandals over heels or wedges when we wear maxis. Since most maxi dresses hit at the ankle, we find that a strappy sandal (or even a nicer flip flop) compliments the casual elegance best. If you’re looking for a maxi or two (or three or four), definitely head to Old Navy…all their dresses (including maxis) are on sale!

  1. I just went to Old Navy last week for the first time in, oh I don’t know, 7 years, solely based on your 3 tanks for summer BBQs post. I now have even more of a reason to head back because I think that striped maxi needs a place in my closet! Also, fun to see the ring pop up in pictures 🙂

  2. How did the blue dress fit I want to order but trying to decide between xs and s I am 5’7/122 pounds can you tell me what you thought of the fit? Thanks and love your blog

    1. Hi Amber!
I highly recommend going with an XS – our sizing is similar to yours and the small we got in the dress is a bit big in the arm sockets…hope that helps!
      xx – M
