Sculptural Peplum

March 2, 2016

I am having a major thing for square-front tanks. You might remember the style from the '90s - probably showing up in movies like 10 Things I Hate About You, Drive Me Crazy, and possibly Passport to Paris. Even though it might be a bit of a throw-back, I've actively been acquiring tops with the high, square necklace, cut-away shoulders and thin straps (last one seen here) and this peplum top by Hunter Bell is a new favorite.

Besides loving the contrast between the white neoprene-like fabric and the ultra-thin black straps, I’m crazy for the defined waist and slight peplum hem. I can’t really recall the last time I wore a true peplum – I love the look of them but some styles accentuate my hips too much – but the structure and length of this one makes it perfect.

Ailee (my photog friend and blogger of Snapshots and my Thoughts) took these photos of me in front of the Montrose Shop – a super cool lifestyle store located in the Montrose area of Houston. If you’re a black & white lover and minimalists at heart, definitely try to stop by this shop sometime. And then hop, skip, jump a little further down Wertheimer and visit Biscuit!

  1. I am in love with this top! I love that neoprene fabric – it’s always so flattering. The thin black straps are such a cool contrast!
