I have to say, I'm a liiiiitttllleee bit sad that I bought this top at full price and now it's on sale. For almost 40% off. What can you do? We all know that J.Crew is famous for their markdowns and sales as much as they are for selling out of pieces. Even though I feel bummed that I didn't get the off-the-shoulder tie-neck top at the steal price it is now, I'm glad I've had it to wear these past several weeks and happy that some of you can scoop it up now that it's under $40!
For me, wearing black clothes can be tricky (athletic wear doesn’t count). Sometimes the color feels super harsh for my fair coloring? I don’t know. Originally I saw the off-the-shoulder tie-neck top in the chambray version and was convinced that I needed it. Then I tried on the black version in-store and Molly convinced me that I would wear it way more than the chambray. Glad I listened to her, because the cotton blouse has been the easiest to throw on – dressed up or down – and I love that the layered ruffle keeps the hue from feeling too edgy. And as much as I love the clean look of an off-the-shoulder blouse, I really like that this one has the tie-neck detail…somehow it makes it all the more comfortable to wear!
It's not even October and pumpkin-everything is all I see. At Trader Joe's (naturally, I took home my own section of pumpkin-ish stuff today), outside houses, on Instagram, etc. You'd think that with the 90 degree heat it would deter Dallasites from risking pumpkin decor outside...and you'd be wrong. Here in Texas we are soooo ready for fall. And being an October birthday baby means that all the pumpkin sightings and Halloween prep are signals that my big 3-0 is soon approaching.
Pumpkin talk aside, I'm pumped to be sharing this fantastic cotton blouse today. It's new, it's still in stock (shocker considering my track record!) - though FYI, stock is running low - and it's my fave score of the season. How can you beat this much look for $49.99?!
Not sure what else there is to say other than: run, don’t walk to H&M and get this top while you can! I’m wearing a 2 and I definitely could have gone up a size (the waist situation is elastic and pretttttty snug).
If you’re size is already gone, promptly throw a temper tantrum and start speed dialing H&M stores till you find one. Or check out this, this, this, this, and this – all white tops that are amazing. Looking for white sweater goodness? I suggest this and this. And while we’re at it, these aren’t white but are equally great: this and this.
This past month has flown by - it's hard for me and Molly to believe that THE GREAT GIVEAWAY ends today! Have you entered? If yes, thank you SO so much. If not, hop over to this post to do so!
Entering is beyond easy but I've broken it down into steps: 1). scroll to the end of the blog post and you'll see a widget for entering, 2). you have two options for "logging in" (it's the way we have your email address on file to contact you if you win) - either log-in with your Facebook account or manually type in your email address, 3). you'll then see a box that says "visit ALS TDI on Facebook" - this is how we will actually count your entry!, 4). click the box, and when a small pop-up window appears with a blue box for you to visit the ALS TDI Facebook account, click it, 5). a new window will open for ALS TDI's Facebook page - you do not have to follow, like, etc. the account! - just going to the page is enough, 6). click back to your page/window for The Great Giveaway blog post and and click the light blue box in the corner of the widget that says "I visited!" and YOU'RE ENTERED! Easy. Peasy.
If you've read our blog post for the giveaway, you know that the whole inspiration for gathering 18 of our favorite brands and creating a giant prize worth over $6,900 is to encourage all who enter to donate - whatever your can - towards the ALS Therapy Development Institute and the #whatwouldyougive campaign. This organization is doing incredible things for ALS, and they are SO MUCH CLOSER to developing drugs that can end ALS or at the very least, slow down the progression of the muscular deterioration and extend the lives of those diagnosed. ALS is not an incurable disease. It is an underfunded one. Please consider donating to the amazing cause and thank you in advance for your generosity!
(per usual, I've got the Friday faves and sales and steals, so read on for those!)
Ann Taylor: 40% off full priced tops with code TOPITOFF (No surprise, I found three white shirts that are amazing: this, this and this – and hello, this contrast stripe top is beyond)
Anthropologie: Extra 25% off sale – no code needed! (Call me basic but I love this kind of cardigan and I’m loving the wash and hem of these jeans)
ASOS: Shop more save more event! $50 off $200 with code EXTRA50, $70 off $250 with code EXTRA75, and $100 off $350 with code EXTRA100 (If you like ruffles, lace and just the right amount of smocking, this new top is for you!)
There's quite a bit happening with this top: eyelet (of the flower variety), ruffles, bell sleeves, and tuxedo pleats. Somehow J.Crew made it all work. And it's not too terribly preppy - which is crazy considering the eyelet and ruffle factors. As soon as I tried it on and did a little front tuck I was sold. Sometimes navy feels tricky to wear with jeans (it can be a lot of blue) but the texture and detail on this guy means that it stands out when worn with darker denim and it's not too harsh to wear with lighter washes like what I have on here.
Side note, I recently stole borrowed these Lucky jeans from Molly’s closet and well, I love them. Might have to get the same pair and another Bridgette style for myself since Lucky is having a buy one, get one 50% off deal. Who knew I would like high-rise denim so much?!
P.S. J.Crew is having a “buy 2 get 20% off OR buy 3 and get 30% off” on select items with code “MOREPLEASE” and this is one of the items…as is the Easy Sweatshirt Molly had on in yesterday’s post!
