DIANE

Yesterday I had the pleasure of attending a small event at my local Sephora in Dallas’ Northpark Mall – an exclusive opportunity to meet Diane von Furstenberg and her new fragrance DIANE.  Magical.  Getting to see Diane in person was such a dream… She has such a natural and authentic warmth that literally radiates when she speaks and smiles, she charmed the store with her introduction of the fragrance and graciously took time to meet and greet a long line of giddy fans.  I realized how appropriate Diane’s slogan for her fragrance “Be the woman you want to be” seemed when looking at her perched on a table, legs crossed and leopard platforms dangling above the floor… She looked so beautiful, comfortable, confident, happy, and yes even a little seductive – you could tell that she was being the best version of herself.

Aside from drooling over seeing a fashion icon in the flesh, I was completely captivated by the fragrance.  You can watch a darling YouTube video of Diane talking about the scent and using perfume as a weapon of seduction (sassy) here but I would describe the smell as a very clean floral (Frangipani and Violet flowers) that while feminine, is not over powering.  I love how Sephora writes that it is “built up like one of her dresses: it wraps up a woman’s body and stays with her all day long.”  The only designer fragrance I’ve ever been impressed with is Stella by Stella McCartney but I absolutely love DIANE and I urge all of you to pop into a Sephora to try a spritz and maybe even buy a bottle.  The packaging of the bottle itself is pretty irresistible…  The recognizable font used in the DVF logo is carried over onto the bottle’s simple, elegant shape.  I think the classic shape of the clear glass with gold lettering and organic spots would be a glamorous addition to any vanity!

After snapping pictures and admiring my wrist tied with a DVF ribbon smelling of DIANE I was lucky enough to briefly speak to the lovely legend herself.  She said “oh you’re so pretty” and signed a card for me that said so.  Oh, thank you Diane!  I didn’t shower this morning so that really means a lot!  Well I didn’t tell her that, but did gush a bit about what an honor it was to meet her acquaintance and I literally couldn’t stop smiling after our brief encounter… It was a dream come true meeting someone so inspirational and influential in the design world.

I’m so happy I was able to be part of one of Diane’s many stops across the county to promote DIANE.  Everyone I met from the DVF and Sephora teams was so wonderful and I even met a few readers which I loved, loved.  As part of the promotion, a group of SMU Pi Phi girls (fellow angels!) were gathered to walk the mall and stroll Sephora wearing styles of current DVF wrap dresses… Seriously some of the sweetest girls.  How darling/gorgeous are they?  Raise your hand if you have an immediate urge to go out and buy a wrap dress.  Put your hand down and start your Christmas list.

LOVE! How amazing to meet Diane in the flesh. I have the quote that inspired the 'be the woman you want to be' mantra up on my inspiration board at home. She once said that as a young woman, "I never knew what I wanted to do, but I always knew the woman I wanted to be." Isn't that the most we could ever ask of ourselves? Somehow, that feels like a much more attainable goal than figuring out what I want to DO.

Also, you look gorgeous and I'm eager to try out the fragrance now!
