Three summers ago, I spent many a days in this house you see above. Are you jealous? I nannied for the sweet Jones family while I was still living in Kansas City. So imagine my surprise to find their beautiful home featured in the pages of the November issue of Country Living. While working with the Jones family, not only did I fall in love with their family – who are some of the most amazing and creative people – but for their house as well. What you see in these pictures is what you get – colorful, crisp, inviting, and well lived-in. Mix that with the Jones’ [now one
] precious dogs and the great music Susan always had playing throughout the house and I was a happy little clam.
What I love so much about their house is how unexpected it all is. Not many people would take the risk to pick out a mango orange-colored breakfast room table. Or to paint the walls in their entry way and living room a pale lavender. And it all just works. So seamlessly. What a happy place to live, right?
I am extremely inspired by color. Day in and day out. I can gurantee that you will not find me wearing black very often to work. And the thought of owning a solid black (gasp!) iPhone case has never crossed my mind. So I love the idea of living in color like this someday in my “grown up house”. Not too much color, but just the right amount – color that is balanced by perfect neutrals like greys and taupes. The Jones did just that.

This home is so beautiful! How fun…Now, seriously when can we get together?
Great home, beautiful family! Are you from KC?
Allison- YES! Born and raised:)
I can't believe these are all from the same house! Each room is unique and stunning….although you had me at Chiang Mai. ;o)
If I were to choose a favorite spot in this house, I'd probably go for the boy's bedroom with the world map all over the wall. It just inspires me to travel.
Sally,
I can't even begin to thank you enough for your kind words.
You were such an happy addition to our family. Your patience and support meant the world to us and to Henry in particular. I knew you would be responsible, but you were also supportive and encouraging in your care for our most charming, unusual little boy. Your feedback and reassurance have helped us help Henry succeed in grade school.
I am sure the parents at your school feel the way I do about you…incredibly lucky to have crossed paths with you.
Thanks for making us part of your fabulous blog…
XOXO,
Susan
