Don’t hate me – I have a problem with choosing images and “editing down” so the BHLDN sneak peak event is going to be three parts. Three is better than one though, if you ask me… The BHLDN boutique is laid out with three main salons – each with a distinct look different from one another and designed to organize the store by category. Similar to sister stores Anthropologie and Urban Outfitters, the store’s decor capitalizes on elements that are both old and new, unique touches of whimsy, and displays and details that are true works of art.
The images above were taken in the front salon which is styled for the “party-goer.” Dresses in a range of colors from bold to pastel line the room and are held by custom fixtures that are a touch masculine (Sal and I loved the dark pinstripe that lined one of the displays). The expansive front window floods the neutral colored space with natural light and houses a gorgeous window display of a mannequin bride sitting on a giant swan and surrounded by silver chairs that are stacked and balanced on top of each other, draped by strands of pennants and fluffy tissue flowers. Our favorite part of the space, aside from all the party dresses (we wanted them all), was the light fixture that spanned the entire ceiling… My pictures do not do it justice, it is so stunning in person – a perfect industrial and geometric juxtaposition to offset the delicate and flowy bright dresses!
More tomorrow… P.S. – Houston based photographer Christa Elyce was also at the event and shared her gorgeous images of BHLDN on her website. I’d like to say upfront that while I have a camera, I know that does not make me a photographer… Photographers like Christa have true talent and skill. Just saying I know I’m an amateur and I’m ok with it!
