Every time I talk to my friend Michaela who lives in NYC and now works for Oscar de la Renta, I am constantly mesmerized by her life in the city. Tales of working for “Oscar”, weekend jaunts to the Hamptons, and her friends – who are each as fashionable as the next (they all work in fashion). She is literally going to laugh out loud reading my recount of her NYC life. Even more so, I love to hear her talk about coworkers and friends who have babies and children in the city, all the while managing to work high power jobs. I always think it would be so fun to have young children (before school age) in a big city, living in a high rise, with so many museums and parks at your fingertips. As long as you’ve got a stroller and room in the apartment for a crib, you’re set, right? I’m sure my thoughts will do a 180 once I have babies of my own:)
Michaela’s boss, and the head creative director at Oscar de la Renta, has a blog called “George and Ruby” that tells the story of her life in NYC with two little ones and showcases behind the scenes looks at the Oscar children’s line. Including pictures from a recent photoshoot in Portugal for the childrens Spring and Summer 2013 campaign. See what I mean, it is pretty fascinating. The blog is only a few weeks old, but I can already tell that it is going to be a new favorite of mine. The New York fashion industry + children + real life – account for one great story/blog.
