Doesn’t Feel Like Friday

Yesterday felt like Friday – probably because I was so, so looking forward to the mama getting in town – but today feels like a Tuesday.  And the day has been dragging on forever – probably because I’m at work and the mama and sister are bouncing around town doing all kinds of fun things without me. Just kidding. I’m honestly not even bitter that I’m missing out… I’m just so excited that the weekend is finally here and that Sally and I get to spend it with one of our favorite people! (we never, ever have our mom all to ourselves so it’s a pretty epic trip for her and us)

Hope you all enjoy the weekend time!

The Shopping Habit

Hellooo Friday!  I cannot tell you guys how happy M and I both are that the weekend is finally here.  Our precious mama came in last night for a weekend visit and we get to have her to ourselves allll weekend long.  There are big plans to shop (a little), eat at yummy restaurants, see a movie, get our nails done, and visit the Dallas Arboreatum’s Chihuly Exhibit.  Woo hoo!  Cannot wait.  With rain in the forecast for this weekend, I am completely craving comfy clothes.  (I’ve told you all about my obsessed with comfy clothes, right!?)  The sweater and top above are completely screaming my name to wear now throughout the fall season layered with blazers and jackets.  I love bringing color into the mix with my accessories, and I have been pining for these insane Loeffler Randal flats (which are on SALE!) for quite some time.  That yellow would look perfect paired with denim.  When Moda Operandi came out with a Phillip Lim Pashli in the electric yellow color I think my jaw hit the floor a little bit.  Yellow is my favorite, favorite color and both Molly and I are dying to purchase a Pashli so I kind of felt like it was speaking to me in a way.  What do you all think of the yellow version?  Does the black hardware bother you or does it make it that much cooler?  Do tell.  Hope you all have the BEST weekend! xx

Mama Knows Best

When I pinned this picture of Gwyneth last week, my mind immediately went to our mom and a bit of fashion advice she told me a couple of years ago.  The woman is full of advice that I like to store in my back pocket and pull out whenever I need it.  Like the time Molly and I were begging her to buy us rhinestone “Bebe” shirts in highschool.  “You know girls, not everything has to be skin tight”.  I am still convinced that was her nice way of saying, omg these shirts are hideously ugly/trashy/overpriced and I cannot believe my daughters find them “cute”.  God – how embarassing that we actually liked those.  If only we listened to her!  Limited Too was the same story – we were never allowed to shop there.  Needless to say, my childhood certainly wasn’t ruined by that rule.  Thanks mama:)

Back to present day here and I’m obsessed over yet another outfit Gwyneth puts together.  This time whats catching my eye is her amazing red Rag and Bone boots.  “I love a good red shoe, its such a great neutral and you will have it in your closet forever”, she said to me a few years back in the Stuart Weitzman store.  Once again, mama knows best.  This must by why she constantly put us in matching red rubber-toed Keds, leather t-strap mary janes, and sandals throughout our childhood.  (I really hope you’re loving the visuals on these)

The funny thing is that I have really never been a big fan of wearing the color red.  I literally have two red pieces hanging in my entire closet.  I have always felt that it was such a harsh color against my light hair and skin, but red shoes I can definitely do.  With Gwyneth’s look they literally make her entire outfit.  A classic grey tee and jeans are instantly taken to the next level with those red booties and I’m ready to jump on board.
