After the Summit

My first time at Altitude Summit was just beyond… A lot of it was what I had expected: it was exciting and thrilling to meet bloggers I had gotten to know via their daily postings face to face; each speaker panel I attended was interesting, helpful and packed with guided information from some of the bests; the parties were fun and each blogger ensemble was better than the next.  What I didn’t expect was: to form such an instant friendship and incredible bond with my beautiful roommates Chelsea and Victoria; that I would be blown over by how down-to-earth and humble some of my favorite big-time bloggers would be; that the keynote speech Ben Silbermann, founder of Pinterest, gave would be so inspiring and down-right applicable to almost all of us listening to it; and just how proud I felt being surrounded by intelligent, funny, gorgeous, and lovely bloggers that like me who pour an immense amount of time and love into the internet every day.

I didn’t know it was possible to feel warm fuzzy feelings while also experiencing my brain churning a mile-a-minute.  The amount of notes I took is insane (or awesome, depending on your style) and I was consistently impressed and jealous of the bloggers that could simultaneously tweet, instagram, talk, listen, and adsorb all at once (talent yo).

When it came time to say goodbye to new friends and the lovely Grand Hotel with its marble bathroom and glorious robes, I was sad but also in love with the experiences I had.  I’ve always heard that you can’t put a price tag on life experiences and what I felt and learned between Wednesday to Saturday is truly irreplaceable.  I’m looking forward to the days, weeks and months ahead as I expand on the establish friendships I made and Sally and I implement a lot of the learning I brought home with me.  Oh, and I’m already signed on to go back to Alt next year with Sally in tow…  I can’t imagine missing out on a reunion.

Sounds like you had a lot of fun! That's really neat that you were able to hear the founder of Pinterest speak. I was hoping to go to the summit but I had classes, definitely next year!! I would love to hear more about the summit!

Big hugs, roomie! I'm missing you, Chelsea, and those robes too. Everything you wrote here is exactly how I'm feeling. I'm naming it my "Alt Hangover." It's a lot to recover from!

PS — I wondered if Chelsea has been bombshelled yet?!??!

I haven't been Bombshelled since I left my stylist, Molly! And since we had a big financial talk before I made it to Sephora I will now be asking for it for my birthday. Or putting it on the registry. Sigh. Molly- that description was perfection. I miss you and Victoria, and having a million vanities in one room. xo

ALICIA – why don't I just plan a trip to New York this year so I don't have to wait a whole year to see/meet you! But seriously, there needs to be a better representation of style bloggers at Alt… please promise you'll try to come next year?!

SARAH – can't wait to meet you next year :)

KATIE – Ben's speech was so inspiring, especially because it was rooted in the idea of creating something unlike anything he had ever seen before on the web… authenticity is the only way to make a positive beginning in a world of so many http://www.coms. Had a blast!

VICTORIA – hungover is kind of the best way to describe the feeling of "coming back" to the real world after Alt… Now we seriously have to hit the to-do lists :)

CHELSEA – I'll bombshell your hairs when you're in Dallas this weekend, my love!

ALBERTINA – SO recommend going to Alt once you've started your blog! You will learn so, so much in just three days – it was beyond helpful for a new blogger like us!

    xx – Molly

PEONIE: Gah, I WISH that was a picture of me, haha! I don't think I looked as gorgeous her while taking notes :) But you can check out a picture of me mid-note taking over at Victoria's blog:
