I don’t think Sally or I will ever forget the first time we stumbled upon Linday’s blog (formerly known as Starfish and Sundresses), The Pursuit of Style… That sounds overly dramatic but her taste and endless amount of posts about personal style and decor struck such a cord with us that we instantly knew we would be obsessed with her and her blog for a long time to come. A true working girl, Lindsay squeezes in time to blog while working long days in politics in DC – we picture her trotting the hill in ballerina flats and chic Jackie-O sunnies. If you aren’t reading The Pursuit of Style already you need to bookmark it asap… It never fails to inspire and Lindsay is able to find such unique and beautiful things that instantly get added to our never ending wish list! We feel very lucky that this busy girl took the time to participate in our series and what She Wishes She Was Wearing is her style to a T!

QUESTIONS of STYLE:
.Describe your personal style in five words or less: Classic and colorful.
.Who/What inspires your personal style, influencing what you’re drawn to and what you end up wearing? I’m constantly inspired by Olivia Palermo and Viviana Volpicella. I think Olivia’s style is effortlessly chic but in an accessible way. She pairs classic pieces and seems to share my affinity for ballet flats and a great statement necklace. Viviana uses color unabashedly. In one of my favorite photos, she’s wearing turquoise trousers and an orange silk blouse. Of course she somehow pulls it off and looks amazing! I also save all of my old J.Crew catalogs. They’re always filled with fresh and unexpected color and print combinations. On the web, I’m obsessed with Marlien Rentmeester’s blog, Le Catch. She does a great job at curating the best of online shopping. Surprisingly, most of the pieces she features are also affordable!
.What is an item you cannot live without or what are some of your wardrobe essentials? I live in ballet flats. Other items on repeat include: black skinny jeans, J.Crew long sleeve cashmere tees, DVF dresses, and striped shirts.
.What is your most recent purchase? Retro Super Future Puma sunglasses.
.Where have you found some of your most treasured style items? I love hunting through antique malls and on the vintage section of Etsy for one of a kind jewels. Statement jewelry is my weakness! I’ve also been known to stalk eBay for those items that got away. I’ve been looking for this jaguar printed DVF dress for YEARS! Shopbop, The Outnet, and J.Crew are my online daily visits. In DC, I love Urban Chic, Luna, and CUSP.
.What is your go-to jewelry routine? I always wear an antique pearl ring given to me by my parents and my great grandmothers diamond eternity wedding band. I wear them on the same finger and think they make quite the pair! Other daily wears are a gold Michele mini deco watch and a gold link bracelet.
.What are some of your make-up must haves? I’m super simple with my make-up routine. Cetaphil face lotion, Josie Maran argan oil (it works wonders!), L’Oreal waterproof voluminous mascara, and I always have a tub of Blistex’s Daily Conditioning Treatment chapstick on hand. When I want to get a little more fancy I’ll break out my Nars blush in Orgasm or Gaiety and a swipe of a Stila lip glaze.
.If you could meet any designer who would it be and why? Without a doubt, Diane Von Furstenberg. She’s a fashion icon!
.What’s the best style advice you’ve ever given or received? I’ve always loved this quote by Yves St. Laurent: “Fashions fade, style is eternal.”
The girl has the perfect balance of prep + classic, so it’s no surprise that Lindsay loves Olivia Palermo’s chic style as much as we do… Not many people could pull of shocking pink mini cords but the way she styled them makes the happy color much less intimidating
Thank you so much, Lindsay! xx
