I am having a real moment with designers in their studios – promise not to over-run the blog with fashion studios – just couldn’t let this one pass me by…. Marissa Webb was one of the names on everyone’s lips after this past NYFW. The former head of Womenswear and Accessory Design at J.Crew just made her solo design debut with an inspired Spring Collection for 2013 (see it here!). How do I know that you will like her? You saw me write J.Crew, right? Having been with the company for 11 years it make sense that her own designs reflect a similar asethetic sensibility – but with a flair all Marissa’s own. “Having grown up as a tomboy, Marissa embraces a playful feminine elegance in her designs while integrating a cool masculine edge.” Feminine tulle and masculine leather made for a match made in black and white heaven for her NYFW presentation… Excited to see where she takes us next and very happy that I can stalk her lovely and inspiring blog in the meantime
Now about her studio space… Let’s just say that Sal and I have a very similar hair on hide that will be making an appearance in our apartment soon.
