Necessary

With gift giving season and the holidays right around the corner, I can’t help but start brainstorming the perfect gifts for each and every person on my list.  When buying a gift, I really like to go with something that the person most likely wouldn’t buy for themselves.  That’s why a coffee table book makes such a great gift – its a rare occasion that people go out and buy a whole bunch of those for themselves.  Coasters are the same story.  Molly and I have yet to invest in a nice set of coasters and we have lived in our apartment for quite some time.  Just one of those things that always gets placed on the backburner, ya know?  Yet its totally necessary to have these in your home.  (Right now we are using cardboard coasters that we have collected from various bars and restaurants)  Finding good looking coasters seems hard, but there are actually quite a lot of options out there.  Stuck on a gift to give to that hard to buy someone?  Here’s your answer!  Everyone needs a pretty place to put their cocktail, no?

My sister and I used to be roommates. We lived in three or four different places together. Coasters were our souvenirs from each residence. I have three sets of four coasters as a remembrance of each place. We're in our 40s now but I'm so glad we have them. We divided up so much of our stuff and I'm glad that we bought two sets of coasters knowing/hoping that one day we would split up. Your sister relationship is what keeps me coming back to your blog!

All that to say: my recommendation is to buy two sets of coasters!

I really love coasters. I think they're such an unexpected way to add decor to a room. I brought some really amazing blown glass coasters back from Iceland for my boyfriend's parents that had one of Iceland's famous waterfalls on (which I visited!). They're so pretty, and a perfect souvenir, just like Barchbo said above! I definitely think they're a wicked gift.

I have the coasters from Anthropologie and I ADORE them even more than I did in the store. I would highly recommend them.
