I don’t wear a lot of ballerina flats. There are exactly two in my closet and they are basics that do the job when heels aren’t the idea shoe choice (these in sand, and these). I don’t have anything against ballerinas, I’m just not a collector like Sally is… But last week I met a pair that I legit swooned over (and I don’t use words like swoon ever often). At the opening of Number One/ Le Jus (a darling new café & juice bar in Highland Park Village – more on that another day) Sally and I were checking out the carefully curated selection of boutique items when I met the ballerina flats of my shoe dreams. Repettos in camo-print. CAMO. I died.
Rose Repetto’s French flats have been coveted by many feet since their creation in 1947. The name-sake brand is a favorite of Garance Dore and have been worn by many women – from Brigitte Bardot to Kate Moss, Sofia Cappola to Miranda Kerr. They are expensive but from what I hear, they are also among the best in terms of fit, comfort, and wear.
So guess what’s on my Christmas list? The chic and cheeky camo-print ballerinas in all their appliqued leather glory. You don’t even want to know the outfits I am dreaming up around them…
