Fancy a Frenchie

I know what some of you might be thinking… “13 images of French Bulldog puppies on a Wednesday morning… Isn’t that a bit… Excessive?” No, no friends it is not. I’ve had puppy fever in the worst kind of way and it reached an all time high when I was discussing puppies with my fab coworker Megan yesterday and we both said at the exact same time “I want a Frenchie.” Truth be told I’d like a white lab AND a Frenchie but since my apartment is not a penthouse and I’ve never owned a dog before I have this idea that a Frenchie would be the most logical first step. Small problem: I don’t have work hours or live close enough to my office to allow to me give a puppy the proper care, love, attention, and training that are critical during those first months… Stupid work/life balance thing. But 2012 is a new year with new beginnings and I’m making it my mission to try and own a pup before these next 11 months are up (happy February, by the way).
Megan warned me that Frenchies have health issues/risks and Erin told me that they are notoriously hard to potty train (they’re not called “bull” dogs for nothing) but I just have this image in my head that my Frenchie and I would be the bestest of pals and training will be a total snap. I find that visualizing things like this is the best way to make them happen. Also, I could have posted about 17 more precious images of French Bulldogs that would make you squeal at the cuteness. Just saying. Just look at those faces!! I want to squeeeeze them. If any of you readers have a fab Frenchie just tell me how much you love them so I can further convince myself to taking the leap of getting one for myself.
P.S. I truly have no illusions about how hard it is to train puppies. I swear I’m not just going to buy a pup, name it Rosebud and everything will be rainbows and hearts and snuggle sessions – puppies are serious business and they grow into dogs but I think I’m ready for this step! And I really like the name Rosebud.
P.P.S. Did you all catch Erin's Frenchie Chloe stealing the show of her Refinery 29 feature? Die for her... Just look at her lounging in the second image from the bottom above!

love everything about frenchies..they are squished up versions of jumby!
I'm in the same boat, I soo want a puppy, but life stands in the way right now. Definitely jealous that you might be able to get a pup in the next year, because I know for me it will be at least a few. With plans to move overseas, and the difficulties with finding pup-friend apartments, I just don't think it'd be fair to the little guy or girl. Until then, I'll read this post over and over, and if you get a pup I'll live vicariously through you! ha
I LOVE frenchies! I had a dog once that was half Boston Terrier and looked kinda like a frenchie :) Way cute!!!
Not excessive at all, adorable!

I have an English Bulldog and they have similar personalities as Frenchies. I'd second Meghan and Erin's comments about health issues and stubbornness but there isn't a day that goes by that I don't appreciate having him in my life and he brings me way more happiness than anything else in this world (well, he's a very close second to my husband). It sounds like you know the level of responsibility and sacrifices having a high maintenance dog entails, and as long as that's the case, I'd say those little cuties are totally worth it!
TINA - Aw, I'm so happy this post made your day! It kind of made my day, too - haha!
RIKSHAW - Ah, they DO look like little squishy Jumby puppies!!! How is Jumby? She is just the cutest puppy... Hope your birthday has been fab, lovie
ERICA - Ugh, it's so tough living in an apartment! It's not really fair to the pup but Sally always tells me, "there is no perfect time to get a puppy/dog" so I think I'm just going to go for it and home they embrace my apartment!
KB - I also think Boston Terriers are adorable... You just can't get mad at those sweet little faces!
KIRBY - Whew, glad all the images didn't offend your eyeballs! They are all so darn cute I can't even pick a favorite... Although I am quite partial to the light tan one Ashley Olsen is toting!
LINDSEY - I can only image how cudly your english bulldog is! I truly think any dog (especially one as cute as a Frenchie) would provide me with a huge ammount of happiness on a day to day basis :)

As you know (okay, maybe you didn't), J and I have a minor obsession with Frenchies. Our master plan is for us to get one fairly soon. One day J jokingly said we'd name it something ridiculous like Jean Luc, and I loved it so much slash thought that name was so hilarious, that I now refer to our future Frenchie as Jean Luc. Can't you just see us walking it around town? "What's his name?" "Jean Luc." [weird stare]
One of my best friends has a Frenchie named Pancake. She is a sweetie. You should see if there is a French Bulldog rescue group. There are so many pups out there that need a good home!
hahaaaaa I LOVE the fact that the one dog has matching jewelry to the woman's shoes! classic.
Oh, I love Frenchies!! I know they come with a lot of issues, but they are so cute. I tried to convince David to let me buy one in Paris. It was a no-go, but I want a Frenchie SO badly. They are freakin' cute. PS I love the new header. I have used one of those gorg images on the blog before. Excellent taste my friend. xo
Frenchies are the best creatures! They are extremely loyal, fun, cuddly and entertaining. You must get one- my Frenchie GiGi is the greatest though she def does not go outside when she doesn't like the weather (hence the stubbornness)! Ps. Great Frenchie post and I continue to adore your blog.
We have a French Bulldog, and he is the BEST dog. No health problems and he was so easy to house train. Such a great personality, never a single problem with him, no accidents, allergies or anything!

VICTORIA (v-mac) - Pretty much peed my pants thinking of you being all, "Jean Luc, NO! Jean Luc I said NO!" Hysterical. You must get Jean Luc ASAP. You need him in your life.
ALLISON - Pancake?!? Um, that name is just too freaking cute! You're right, I'm going to look into what kind of rescue groups are out there for Frenchies - I fully support finding a good home for needy puppies.
VICTORIA - I KNOW! I was wondering if anyone else noticed that... So stylish, huh?
CHELSEA - Haha, I have the perfect image in my head of you pouting in Paris for a French Bulldog - too cute... So typical that I would have picked images you have used before, we are pretty much peas in a pod!
ANNIE - Eeek, you are so right, I MUST get one. Gigi is such a precious name! I get she is the best at cuddling :) THANK YOU for reading and for your sweet compliemnt!
MURRAY - Yay! You're giving me even more hope that I will find the perfect Frenchie and be able to train her with ease! I can't wait to check out your Tumblr... I'm sure I'll just melt over it :)

As you know, we just got a cavalier and JUST DO IT! You will love her so much everything will be worth it. It is a lot of work but having her just makes you a better person (less selfish - more snuggly - walk more - smile more - talk in a baby voice more) Plus - after the six month mark (Im getting so close!!!!) it is SOOO much easier. You can do ANYTHING for 6 months! XXXOXO
HANNA - Aw I love Hennie and I love hearing you talk about her! I think you are so right - having a pup changes your perspective, it's almost like having a baby. Glad to hear that it's a cakewalk after 6 months :) P.S. you have GOT to listed to Sally talk to her dogs in her baby voice. It is honestly unreal....

thanks so much for including Chloe in your round up! Even though they can be pains Frenchies are the best. You can never be in a bad mood when you come home to that face! I say do it! And if your work is amenable, bring the puppy to work with you. That's what we did with Chloe!
ERIN - I wish bringing a puppy to work was allowed for me or Sally! I think we'll just have to do the best we can with potty training, haha! I can only hope I get a Frenchie as darling as Chloe!!!

I have a fat frenchie!! Her name is Tinkers :) She was a little slow at potty training, but fortunately, frenchies will do ANYTHING for food! So every time she went outside, I gave her praise and a little treat, and she figured it out pretty quick. Get one!!! they're the cutest!!
I have a Frenchie and I love her, I dress her up and she as silly as could be..frenchbulldogrescue.org
