Have any of you seen these images from Life Magazine in the 1970′s? My boyfriend showed them to me this past weekend and I couldn’t not share them. All thoughts of the lion mauling the family members and domestication of wild animals aside, are the images not crazy cool and somewhat endearing? Just your average house pet helping in the kitchen, playing in the swimming pool, working in the office, and lounging out back…just like our dogs do. I think the last time I saw a lion was 5 years ago, at a zoo, a million feet away and caged. You don’t realize how big they acutally are, until you see them in bed next to a little girl, ya know?
I know lions are “beasts” and not the talking Simba and Nala I grew up with on the TV screen, but I still think this guy above is pretty cute and sweet. He seems to be pretty loving, too. I mean, look at his eyes. Wonder if our dogs would get along with him?

I've never wanted a pet lion until now. I have the sudden urge to hop on and ride him around the house!
