Styled By Alicia | Cheetah is the New Black

We could not be more excited to introduce our first blogger guest series: She Wishes She Was Wearing.  If you’re a regular A Piece of Toast reader you’ve probably seen our “I wish I was wearing…” posts where we sisters craft an outfit based on what we wish we were wearing on that exact day.  While we loved doing this ourselves, a fellow blogger friend (thanks Fallon!) suggested inviting other bloggers to participate…  We decided to retire our “wish I was” posts in favor of hosting some of our favorite bloggers every Thursday with their outfit picks, and their style insights.  We hope you enjoy!

Today we welcome Alicia – and could not be happier that she is the stylish girl to kick off She Wishes She Was Wearing! Alicia’s blog, Cheetah is the New Black, is one of the first blogs we started seriously stalking.  We both fell in love with her sweet smile but edgy wardrobe.  She oozes a personal style that is all her own and makes wearing leather and leopard look easy.  Alicia is also a contributor to Glitter Guide (another daily must read), and we love that we get even more of her in our daily reads!

QUESTIONS of STYLE:

.Describe your personal style in five words or less:  Casual glamour with edge.

.Who/What inspires your personal style, influencing what you’re drawn to and what you end up wearing?  I’m constantly inspired by various style icons of mine (ie: Taylor Tomasi Hill, Jenna Lyons), as well as street style, various blogs / websites and magazines. I’m typically drawn to ensembles that are somewhat unexpected, mixing high with low, preppy with edge etc.

I wear what I feel most comfortable and confident in while experimenting and putting my own spin on various trends of the season.

.What is an item you cannot live without or what are some of your wardrobe essentials?  My wardrobe essentials are: a classic leather jacket, great fitting pair of jeans and a statement-making bag that’s both functional and stylish.

.What is your most recent purchase?  A leopard carry-all tote from J.Crew.

.Where have you found some of your most treasured style items?  Some of my favorite thrifted finds (designer shoes and vintage jewelry) are from a consignment store in SF, Cris. I prefer to shop in small boutiques and online at Shopbop or Net-a-porter. Bloomingdales and Barneys are my favorite department stores and of course, I love J.Crew and Zara.

.What is your go-to jewelry routine?  Typically one statement piece (bold necklace, cuff or earrings).

.What are some of your make-up must haves?  Chanel Rose Bronze Blush and Rosebud Salve for my lips.

.If you could meet any designer who would it be and why?  Stacey Bendet of Alice + Olivia (she seems like she’d be a lot of fun and A+O is one of my favorite brands – it’s just so happy!).

.What’s the best style advice you’ve ever given or received?  Confidence makes the outfit.

Thank you SO much, Alicia!  xx
