Mini Me

I have to say that I have had a really hellish time dressing myself this past winter.  I don’t know what it was, but pants and ponytails quickly became my new best friends and not in a good way.  I said screw you to tights (and therefore dresses and skirts) and literally didn’t wear them for months on end.  My J.Crew Pixie Pants went on regular (daily) rotation and are now definitely in need of a good dry cleaning.  (At least I own 2 pairs?)  I guess I really came to the realization of my dreadful winter wear when a precious first grade girl at my school told me that I “dress different now”.  Nothing like a comment like that to get those ponytails and pants out of the picture.  If kids are noticing, its bad.

The good news is that the weather in Dallas is finally feeling like the Texas weather that we know and love – 75 and sunny all week this week (ya jelly?).  You will be proud to hear that I have only worn pants one day this week, yesterday, and only because Wednesdays are “jeans days” at work.  My skirts and dresses are back into their regular rotation, but of course I am craving more.  I have this “thing” for mini skirts, not the Abercrombie & Fitch ripped up denim kind that Snooki probably prefers, but minis in pretty prints and textures.  In the past, J.Crew has always been oh so helpful at filling my closet with them – I have an embarassing amount.  Unfortunately, “J.Crack” is not cutting it these days in the mini department and has close to nothing to offer me.  My mom says that they have one mini skirt in the store right now in a pastel tweed.  Sounds pretty fetch if I do say so myself.  Easter skirt?

Because of J.Crew‘s failure to provide as much as usual for my work wear “needs”, I have been forced to search the internets high and low for other sources.  Above are my most favorite finds.  I have seen the two Ann Taylor Loft skirts in person (can I tell you that I had never stepped into this store until last month?), and they are even better face to face.  The yellow is a neon yellow that would look great now with a chambray shirt and my cork ballet flats and great in the dead of summer with a crisp white tank and neutral wedges.  Tell me dear readers, which above are your faves?  Have you seen anything good in this department?

Haha! I'm addicted to JCrew myself! I love all of your new finds though. It's still chilly in NYC so no minis for me just yet.
