The upcoming holiday (tomorrow – weee!) has gotten the best of me and I’m thinking green. Which makes me think of that tragic toast Rachel McAdams’ character gives from Wedding Crashers, “Um, they both like the color green… Like Graig’s eyes… And money…” And it also has me thinking about luck.
How many times do we view the success or happiness of others and chalk it up to luck? I think sometimes it is really hard to recognize that “luck” is often the byproduct of hard work, strategic choices, risks, rewards, timing, etc. You found a $50 dollar bill on the ground – yup that is luck, buddy. And I am jealous. To the future winner of the shopbop gift card giveaway, you are lucky. But did you know that 30% of Americans think the only way to obtain wealth is by winning the lottery? Thirty. Percent. Believe that playing a game of chance and winning by pure luck is the only way. I don’t know… I just think about that sometimes. This doesn’t even have to do with money either. What do you think the percentage is for people that think success is mostly due to luck? It makes me sad to think that instead of visualizing the life that you want and making as many choices as you can to go after it, that people wait and wait and wait for luck. Carpe diem. That is all I’m saying…
And that’s all I got today from the inner workings of my brain!

This is SO true and very sad…. Hard work gets you far in life. Roll up your sleeves and get through the yucky stuff and soon enough you will earn your reward and achieve your dreams. I'm in this process right now and am beginning to see the payoffs and it's SO worth it. Thanks for the post!
30% think winning the lottery is the only way to earn wealth? I bet the percentage who think a reality show is the ticket is even higher. Tragic.
Happy St. Patty's! Luck of the Irish to you!
PS: I am coveting that green velvet sofa.
I think it appears to be luck but most of its hard work.
This is a great post! You are so right… I truly believe to be lucky in your own life you need to be happy with what you are doing. This doesn't mean being the richest, skinniest or prettiest, but to be truly happy with the things you have and with those around you! Happy St. Patrick's Day!
