I failed to include something pretty epic that occurred this past Sunday when doing my weekend review post yesterday… What happened was, I gave my iMac the side-eye, climbed into bed with my laptop and a snuggly pup, and read hours and hours (and hours) worth of posts on my GoogleReader. You see, since starting my new job (that I adore) I’ve been adjusting to a new set of hours and managing a calendar that has somehow been exploding. I’ve let my daily blog reading routine wall to the wayside and it’s been killing me… I guess I could have “marked all as read” but I would have had a nagging feeling that I was doing a disservice to my fellow bloggers or potentially missing out on something amazing.
2,000+ post later – I came away feeling really satisfied and with a renewed appreciation for all the time and thought that goes into posting. I have also made a promise not only to stay on top of my reading, but to engage in commenting like I used to. Readers, do you know how rewarding it is to see your lovely comments? I can’t speak for every blogger but Sally and I LOVE reading what you all have to say…
All that being said, getting caught up has also made me realize that I’m feeling a little burnt out (basically exhausted) and that I might not be the only one. I was chatting about this exact topic with Victoria yesterday – since January it feels like we have all been cranking at top speed and the pace has finally caught up with a lot of us… I suggested to her that there should be a “blogger spring break” – a week off of posting, tweeting, Facebooking, Instagramming, reading, commenting, etc. etc. Do worry, we aren’t going to do it
Just saying… It would be interesting.
To all of you lovers that read A Piece of Toast – thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart. I know how busy we all are and it means the world to me that you pop in to see what we are up to. xx

I absolutely love reading your blog and I do so every day. I came across it via The Glitter Guide a few weeks ago and I just thought y'all seemed like fun and fabulous girls. I hope the burnt out feeling ends soon, because I look forward to your posts. I hope this encourages you to keep on keeping on!
Love your daily posts and fresh writing style – glad you guys won't be taking a break!
don't thank us! Thank you! y'alls blog is one of the highlights of my day. always something fun to read about!
Have totally been in this same position/dilemma before. Even just a couple days away from the google reader, and it's suddenly bursting full of posts. That mark all as read button is sometimes tempting in those moments, but you're right, it would feel like a bit of a disservice. I also really appreciate any quality posts that bloggers have clearly put a great deal of time and thought into. Like this one of yours!
The blogging spring break idea is brilliant! Of course we'd all feel way too bad to go ahead with it but man oh man it would be fantastic!
Thanks for posting! I work in digital media (for a magazine publisher) in New York and the girls in the office and I are obsessed with your blog. We pretty much read all the relevant blogs out there, but yours is definitely our fav. I especially love how your content is always current, refreshingly girly, and fun. I know I always look forward to the momentary break from the madness at work when I get to read your posts and check out the pretty pictures! Keep up the good work – you and Sally have created a gem!
Awww you are so sweet! This blog is one of my must reads everytime there is a new post….so thank you for updating it so often and coming up with new ideas all the time!
sometimes you have to just take a step away and take a break! it lets you come back so much more refreshed and content
in dramatic fashion
A blogger spring break? Count me in.
this past weekend with tax season drawing to a close, i felt completely zapped! spending long days and evenings at work, hurrying to finish things before deadlines and working on my little blog has been a lot! Working, going to grad school and blogging, its like three full time jobs, but i wouldn't give up any of them if my life depended on it, especially blogging. It's opened me up to a new world of friends, one really great community I could never give up. But I've got to agree, a blogger spring break would be good idea!
i'm not going to lie, this past weekend i turned my phone off, put away my computer watched little tv and spent most of the weekend outside either by myself or with friends. It was a much needed refresher!
(note to self: take more breaks!)
I am slowly attempting to do the same thing with my google reader that has gotten so out of control! And I agree that a Blogger Spring Break would be nice, but I'm sure by day 2 I'd be ready to read new posts!
Hi there! I commented for the first time on your sister's post today and after reading your post had to let you know how much I enjoy reading your blog! My hat is off to all the daily bloggers out there. Our days are busy enough and y'all take the time to give to "strangers" every day! If you are feeling burnt out it's ok to give your self permission to take that Spring Break! We'll be here when you get back! Thank you for writing!
You deserve a break also! Your blog is so great, thanks for all you do to inspire me and other readers!
Hopefully some chips, salsa and margaritas will help!
Looking forward to next week!
I just went on vacation for a week but still felt completely stressed about work the entire time. I wonder if vacations really ever exist anymore? Playing catch up seems constant and I am definitely hitting a creative wall. Fingers crossed we all crawl out of our rut, I wish we all lived close by so we could throw a Spring soiree to refresh!
I totally feel you on this post! When I got married in February and went on my honeymoon, I got back and had 1500+ posts to read on my GoogleReader and like you couldn't just mark them all as read because I was afraid I'd miss something too good!
Love reading your blog!

don't ever stop bloggingggg
I'm with Liz! I worry that my vacation won't really be a vacation because I'll be worried about what my inbox and reader will look like when I get back! Ah well…c'est la vie I suppose.
I found I felt a little better today after taking the morning off. It really does help to get away for a few hours at least!
Blogging and being a involved member of the blogging community is work, but so much fun getting a snap-shot into the wonderful lives and minds of lovely people like yourselves! Take a few days off, but don't leave us!
Cheers to catching up
xx
I agree with this post 100%. I am right there with you. I am behind on reading blog posts since like 3 months. That is why I have not commented on all your lovely posts
Gosh, I miss it! There just simply isn't enough time. It sucks
I say YES to the blogging break!
What a great, honest post! I love your blog and hope that you get the break that you need so you can keep up the fabulous work : )
