For as long as I can remember, the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale has been an annual affair when “back to school” time rolls around. I have vivid memories of shopping the sale with our mom to find the perfect school shoes for the upcoming fall. Although our school’s strict dress code never let us get too wild with our choices, we always stocked up on the then-classic Dr. Marten’s t-strap shoes (don’t worry, found them on Ebay for your viewing pleasure) to go with our school uniforms. Please tell me that we aren’t freaks and that you wore these too/know what I’m speaking of?
As we got older and our style grew to be a bit more sophisticated we made timeless purchases at the annual Anniversary Sale – like the pair of brown suede Frye riding boots Molly scored 6 years ago or my black patent quilted leather Stuart Weitzman boots. Both of which we wear to this day. We knew that this year, like previous years, would be no exception and that there would end up being many a shoe that we would fall in love with.
As the designated shoe model for our excursion, I tried on shoe after shoe and probably had a little too much fun doing it. Stuart Weitzman’s nude patent leather “Stage” peep toe pump is absolute perfection. A classic shoe that every girl needs in her closet and the platform adds just the right amount of edge for a more modern look. If only I needed a new pair of running shoes, I would be jumping all over Nike’s Lunar Eclipse - I love the color combo. But for real, I love these Aasics and their wild colors SO much that I might just have to buy them for no apparent reason (save them for when my current tennies wear out?). Probably both of our most favorite pair of the whole round up were the Donald J. Pliner Danee boots. They looked amazing on and the style is so versatile that they could be worn with anything from dresses to skinny jeans. The color was also surprisingly awesome once I put them on my feet. I swear I have been on the hunt for a classic, leather, no fuss pair of riding boots for a good two years, so was pretty thrilled to try on Tory Burch’s version. The luggage brown color would literally go with anything and is just the color I have been searching for all of these years. Last year I had my eye on a pair of black Stuart Weitzman booties similar to the Upkeep version at the sale this year, but never bought them and always wished I had. So glad they came back with them again this year – picturing them with black tights and a great skirt for holiday parties. When it comes to “work shoes” for the fall I am always grabbing flats for comfort during a long work day. Stuart Weitzman’s Adaptable Flat (they’re really killing it this year!) were so comfy and came in a bunch of classic colors.
Molly fell head over heels (see what I just did there?) for those cobalt blue (literally the most fabulous color in person) Enzo Angiolini Tanen peep toe pumps and would like nothing more than to make them a part of her closet. She has been on the hunt for the right blue heel and thinks this is her best find yet. If you ask me, Cole Haan makes some of the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever worn and I love, love, love their Marine Air Sandal (Nike Air in a heel = fantastic). The sandal comes in three different colors and I kind of want them all. If there is anything in the world a girl should invest in for the fall and winter season it is a pair of Frye boots. We both own pairs of them and swear by them for comfort, durability, and that classic boot that everyone needs in their closet. The details in the stitching on the Frye Melissa Trapunto boot were so good looking. And sigh, the details on Sam Edelman’s python Celia Pump killed me.
After a busy session of shoe shopping I ended up purchasing the Coach Laguna Boot (sight unseen because they did not have them in the Dallas store!), and I cannot even wait for them to arrive at my doorstep. Hoping they fufill all my visions of the perfect fall riding boot
If you ask me, the shoe selection at the sale this year really is packed with SO many great selections and investment pieces. Both Molly and I were extremely impressed. Seriously wishing we could have taken home everything we tried on.

great shoe picks, i'm especially hearting those burgundy boots, um swoon!
I tried on many of the same pairs during the pre sale…I ended up coming away with Vince Camuto black boots and a black leather jacket. Apparently, I am on a "biker chic" kick. Love your choices!
I am also a fan of Frye boots (I have had mine for five years), but I love the Coach pair you bought too!
As a distance-runner, I am loyal to Asics- I wish the ones I run in came in such fun colors as the ones you scoped-out (and were on sale).
wow i just drooled all over my keyboard- fantastic post (images by molly!), and really cool partnership with nordstrom!
I love your mint green toe nail polish! What kind is it?
HAHA those dr. martens, omg. i think had like 3 pairs (all t-strap, obv) and wore them all of middle school. too funny.
I love the two pairs of nude heels. I need some of those in my life major! Those tennis shoes are really cute too! All the shoes are just stellar really.
how much more does it cost per year to maintain and upkeep that 'lawn' / garden for 50 years as compared to just letting a standard roof 'get old' over the same period of time?
