Fourth o’ July

Yeah, yeah – the Fourth of July is on a Wednesday this year and it’s awkward to just get the one day off and keep celebrating to a subduded tone so that the Thursday back at work is productive… But it’s America’s birthday!  And we have an excuse to wear red, white, and blue and look as ridiculously patriotic as we want.  Drink a Budweiser, bake an apple pie, tear up to the Star Spangled Banner, spend the day on a lake, grill out in the backyard, get too much sun, eat too many hot dogs, and drink up every minute of fireworks.  Do it.

I really love this holiday but I honestly don’t have any traditions tied to it that should make me feel so nostalgic and romantic about it… You know that scene in The Sandlot when America the Beautiful is playing and all the boys are playing twilight baseball and watching fireworks and you can just feel the summer?  That’s what I think of every time I think of the 4th.  It’s just a little but magical to me – and I get so excited to watch fireworks :)  Happy Fourth of July to all of you!!

Yes, Sandlot is the closest thing to a fourth of July tradition. =)

Hi! I love this July 4th post! And I am OBSESSED with Nike high tops. Can you post of link of where to purchase those? My birthday is coming up soon and that would be the BEST present ever.
