Styled by Alex | Dreams + Jeans

Alex was one of our very first blogger friends.  We connected through a mutual love of J.Crew and Madewell, landing dream jobs, the power of positive thinking, and all that good stuff… Her blog Dreams + Jeans is one of my most treasured on a list of favorites – her taste is inspired and soulful, and she has such a great artistic eye.  I’m often stumbling upon new-to-me designers, brands, and items because of D+J and I love Alex’s sunny perspective on everything she posts about.  She’s got a fabulous job as a graphic designer in NYC so it’s no surprise that her graphics and layouts on her blog are always so good looking  Basically, I’m so excited to have her here with us today to share what She Wishes She Was Wearing!  Adoring the perfectly balanced look she put together – so New York-cool.

QUESTIONS of STYLE:

.Describe your personal style in five words or less:  Classic, comfortable, relaxed-chic.

.Who/What inspires your personal style, influencing what you’re drawn to and what you end up wearing?  I love looking at style blogs vs. magazines because they show how you can really mix something into your own wardrobe. Living in NYC is a huge inspiration too as I’m constantly seeing stylish people!

.What is an item you cannot live without or what are some of your wardrobe essentials?  A great pair of dark, skinny jeans (I probably wear jeans 90% of the time!), flat sandals, classic silk blouses and a chambray shirt.

.What is your most recent purchase?  a cute heart dress from Anthropologie - I feel like it’s a special dress I’ll have for a long time!

.Where have you found some of your most treasured style items?  A lot of my special pieces have come as gifts or from my favorites stores J.Crew + Madewell (no surprise there!).

.What is your go-to jewelry routine?  I always have a pair of stud earrings in – usually my Catbird Alphabet earrings. I wear the occasional ring, and sometimes a few bracelets, although it’s hard to wear a pile of bangles when I’m designing at the computer all day! 

.What are some of your make-up must haves?  I just switched to Benefit’s Benetint, for the summer and am obsessed. It’s so lightweight and adds the perfect flush. I love Clinique’s Airbrush Concealer and Bobbi Brown’s Everything mascara.

.If you could meet any designer who would it be and why?  This is such a tough question! I’d love to meet Kate Spade, Frank Lloyd Wright, Kelly Wearstler, Paul Rand…the list goes on!

.What’s the best style advice you’ve ever given or received?  Be comfortable and wear what makes you feel great!!  

Ahh – I’m so jealous of the “Growing Love” heart dress she scooped up from Anthropologie before it sold out.
