Basic is Best

One time I complained to my mom that if I had things my way and didn’t care what other people thought, that I would wear jeans and a white t-shirt shirt every day.  She told me that Ralph Lauren wears jeans and a white shirt every day – and if the king of Americana style can get away with it so can I.  Honestly, I’m sure I would get sick of the combination and it’s way too hot in Dallas to wear jeans year round… But that’s not stopping me from always keeping my eyes open for the perfect demin and shirts to add to my collection.

I just scooped up these jeans and am OBSESSED with the fit and wash (classic Americana all the way) but I’d really like to get some slouchy white tops to have once it becomes layering season again.  Pretty pleased that Victoria posted about Everlane this Tuesday and introduced me to t-shirt heaven…. It’s a new company that cuts out the “middle men” of retail that drive up prices to bring you products that are sold at a fair mark-up.  That means cotton t-shirts that look and feel like this but sell for $15 and up.  Shirts and more for both girls and guys – all under $100 and with no compromise on the design or quility of the goods.  I signed up immediately and already placed an order for the Ryan pocket tee and tank (in white – obvi).

Nothing beats basics when they come at a fair price and make you feel as good as you look.  TGIF!  P.S. I was over on the FD Luxe Blog yesterday sharing my weekly “inspired by” post – hope you checked it out

I got my Ryan shirt (in Heather Green) on Monday and have worn it every single evening at home since. Wish I was kidding.

Is no one else bummed these tees are dry clean only?! I'm weighing the pros and cons.

What fabric are the tees made of? I couldn't find the info on the website which I thought was weird….

@Amanda, if you scroll all the way down on an individual tee's page, you will find "more details." The Box Cut is combed cotton, the Ryan is rayon, and the Classic is supima cotton.

I love amazing basics… they truly can be transformative! When I am running out the door in the mornings, an wardrobe of jeans + a white tee sounds fabulous… but making a life out of it (a la Ralph) would be a little boring after a while… maybe just for the weekends :)

That sweatshirt is so strangely appealing. It's just a sweatshirt, but it's not… I'm puzzled.
