Fleurs

I’m in the mood for some florals in the apartment Sally and I share.  Actually, I’m in the mood to complete re-decorate, recover, and rearrange everything in our apartment but flowers seem like a more economical solution to switching things up.  I loooove, love, love fresh flowers.  But here is the thing – I have a hard time keeping plants and flowers alive.  Orchids are suppose to last longer than 3 weeks, right?  And it just seems wasteful to keep buying orchids and other flowers when they barely get any face time with me (re: I’m never home) and their chances of making it are slim to none.

Well my office and I were having a discussion about faux florals yesterday… And even though they have kind of a bad reputation, I want to bring them back in style because they will work with my current lifestyle.  There is NO shame in having a realistic faux phalaenopsis orchid in a pretty pot (I want this one) sitting in my living room.  And bedroom.  The pros: they don’t die, bugs don’t come to visit them, visitors will see them and assume you have your shit together.  The cons: the realistic ones are not exactly cheap, if people get real close to them they will know you’re faking it, and obviously at the end of the day it’s a faux floral and not the real deal.

So if anyone has a great source for great faux orchids, please hit me up.

Joss & Main just listed a beautiful selection of faux floral arrangements by Jane Seymour. My favorites are the magnolias :)

Orchids are difficult anyway! My sister has a fake and it is actually lovely. Good luck!

Check out "preserved flowers." I purchased a preserved rose the other day from Patina Green, an amazing little shop in McKinney, and it is beautiful. It is a real rose, so it looks the part. And the best thing is that is does not wilt. I'm looking into some preserved orchids after reading your post. Good luck! :-)
