ON Being Active

Guess what?  Today will be my third straight day of visiting the  gym!  I bet some of you devoted gym bunnies want to laugh in my face for patting myself on the back for three measly days but it’s been nearly eleven months since I’ve set foot in a gym or done any exercising aside from brisk walking.  So mazel tov to me!

We all have our reasons for wanting to go to the gym: to get fit, be active, tighten & tone, etc.  My main motivation is that going makes me feel good, it helps me sleep better, and I feel genuinely happier when I’ve spent time sweating and moving muscles.  But – having cute workout gear helps.  Let’s be honest, it’s a lot easier to lace up the sneakers and haul the yoga mat when we are wearing sporty stuff that feels comfortable, performs well, and looks good.

My new favorite spot to shop for gym goodies is Old Navy.  If you haven’t discovered the ON “Active” collection you are seriously missing out… Great fit?  Check. Cute? Duh – Check.  Affordable?  CHECK.  I walked into the dressing room with arms full of stuff and was pleasantly surprised at how well everything looked in the mirror.  The prices were so good that I had to stop myself from over buying – but I did end up coming home with some favorites.  Basics: a pair of compression leggings that are so thin and comfortable (and long – for all you long-legged girls), and a “GoDRY” tee that actually lets you sweat without looking like a wet dog.  Cute toppers to wear to and from the gym: a stretchy pullover (that I bought in an XL so it wears nice and loose, perfect when I don’t want something ultra tight), and a “GoDRY” half zip running top (that I will probably never run in but OMG the neon pink zipper!) – both with those key little thumb holes.

True story… In college, my housemates and I always donned our most “sporty” and cool-looking attire when running lots of errands because we knew it made us look put together and it was the most socially acceptable way to be in comfy clothes all day.  This still holds true for me in present day.  Which is why if you see me on a Saturday or Sunday I am most likely clad in workout gear… Even though I don’t have plans to workout :)  Get your sporty tush to Old Navy stores or online while their Active gear is super on sale!!

I am all about workout clothes looking cute and put together! I used to just mismatch anything that worked for working out, but since at least 50% of the time I am in fitness clothes (being a Pilates instructor and all) I finally had to start making purchases that matched and looked nice as well as put together!

I love the look of cute workout clothes to wear for running errands! I'm a big fan of Lululemon, although their stuff can be a little pricey. I'm definitely going to check out the Old Navy lines.

Love that y'all are posting more pics of yourselves too! And I just went to TOWN at Old Navy in Houston last week. I think I might have to go back today and get that pullover in a large size though too. I never even thought to buy a larger size and didn't get it the first time around b/c they didn't have it in my "form-fitting" size. Now my North Face doesn't have to get all sweaty and therefore washed as much. Genius.

You look so pulled together for going to the gym! I love that your clothes are from Old Navy, I am usually a Lululemon girl, but it can get very pricey, so it is great to learn about options that are equally cute but in a better price range!
Also aside from the workout attire I love your 4 letter maya brenner necklace – i did not know they could do that many letters on a necklace, I will have to check that out! I would love to get my birthday, just the month and day; so three numbers!

I love the Old Navy and Gap active wear! I just hate the butt of the Old Navy pants – Without a drawstring waist, they tend to shimmy down with each step. I feel like I am constantly hiking them up during my run. I am ALWAYS afraid my butt is showing!! But ON/Gap have awesomely bright colored shirts, which are perfect for a late night run :)
