The other weekend my boyfriend and I made a drop by the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth to see this little guy that has been perched outside the museum for quite some time. Every time we drove past the museum I would forget that I’d been meaning to go by, but this time we finalllly remembered. The sculpture, known as “COMPANION (PASSING THROUGH)” is the work of KAWS and we thought it was pretty amazing up close and personal. The 16 foot-tall sculpture exemplifies what KAWS is most known for – the incorporation of Pop Culture in his pieces. COMPANION in particular was inspired by the cartoon aspect, specifically Mickey Mouse. This particular character is one of the artists’ most recurring. Maybe its the resemblance to Mickey, or maybe it’s the sculpture’s pose, but whatever the case I felt a very strong connection to this particular piece. I am thinking of maybe framing one of the photos we took in my room?
On another note, I bought my very first (gasp) pair of black jeans the other week from Old Navy and I haven’t been able to take them off. This time around in the denim department at ON, I switched up styles from the Rockstar to the “Diva” – a slightly straighter fit than the super skinny Rockstar. The straighter fit gave the jeans a little bit of slouch on me which I love for a more casual look like this one on the weekends. They were perfect to throw on with my sneakers and were comfortable all day long. Kind of can’t believe that I went this long without owning a pair of black jeans…right?
