This is Faux! And I’m Vegan!

Love fur, hate fur – wear real, wear faux – you have to admit that the ladies with the fuzzy accessories and coats at New York Fashion Week seem to be staying both chic and cozy.  Nemo’s snowy wrath helped me fight my FOMO (fear of missing out) this time.  Can you even imagine trying to pack and prepare for snow and runway shows?  I would have been screwed… My style is a little more like these and a not so much these.  You tell me which are more appropriate for NYFW judging on the looks you see above :)

Stay warm, my friends.

Love the faux fur on the coats, not so much on the boots! What a great vegan alternative!

Haha I was up in all that mess this past week/weekend. I had to go buy a pair of Hunter boots at Bloomingdales the night before Nemo came in…I think I snagged the last pair of size 7 black! And don't kid yourself – I definitely wore them to the shows that went on during the blizzard. Not worth ruining my "real" shoes!!

    Hi Molly,

This is my first time commenting on one of your posts, but I will preface this by saying I do really enjoy reading your blog.

I was just wondering what your reasoning was behind making the title of this post, "This is faux! And I'm vegan!" I understand it's probably just because you're trying to express that faux or real, fur is pretty and cozy, and the title is just to cover yourself from the potential wrath of PETA supporters (I'm not one, don't worry!) by joking around saying that you're vegan and that faux fur is cool too, so don't hate on the pictures with all the (presumably real) fur.

However, judging by the clothing and accessories you post on here, it is my assumption that you are definitely not a vegan, at least in the strictest sense of the term (please correct me if I'm wrong though; I would hate to wrongly assume!). I truly do not mean to incite any criticism or whatnot, but as a vegan myself, this comes across as somewhat offensive to those of us who really do not wear real fur based on our vegan beliefs; the title paired with the pictures kind of make a mockery of vegan values, at least in my opinion. It's okay if you're not vegan/you are okay with wearing real fur, but it might not be the best idea to joke around or pretend you're vegan just for a laugh.

Again, I apologize for even bringing it up since I'm sure it was done with good intentions/a sense of humor, but I just felt like it deserved mention. Please know that this doesn't change my view of APOT.

    Thanks,

    Shannon :)

I'd go for the hunter pair, when it gets that chilly I'm more interested in warmth! The red faux fur coat is divine and looks so cosy!…xv

I love fur! They make the faux stuff look so lush and chic now days that there is no excuse not to try it out. Aimee Song and Jenna Lyons looked killer in the pictures your posted. I'd love to be in the snow so I could rock a full cur coat!

Not gonna lie, my obsession with Russian fashion (and subsequent purchases of vintage and faux fur pieces) SAVED my freezing ass this NYFW. I'm Indian – my people aren't used to this weather! Hopefully the spring/summer shows will have the beautiful early fall weather that makes NYC feel magical.

In any case, thoughts on my upcoming Dallas(!) trip next month got me threw the snowstorm formerly known as Nemo – hope to meet up with you girls there!

In love with all the fur looks I'm seeing because of the storm! I would have been going crazy with the cold! Courtney Kerr's grandmother's coat she wore was stunning! I die!!

Although I'm nowhere near the big winter storms (or winter at all), I've been hearing aaaaaallllll about 'em! Sounds pretty chilly, but I think it's hilarious that people are wearing fur (real or not) with heels. What the!
They do look cute, but I don't think I'll ever be hopping on the fur train. I don't understand how those girls deal with all that bulk! I could not do it!
