I have always been one of those girls that rarely ever wears my hair up. (Don’t worry though, I do wear a pony at the gym) My hair requires every day washing (ugh!), so after going through the effort of showering and blow-drying, it has always seemed pointless to then throw it up. I also feel wayy prettier with my hair down. Lately though, I have been blow drying it until it is just barely dry and then putting it into a bun or braid to change things up a bit. I have mastered the fishtail braid perfectly on other people, but just cannot get it right on myself. I have a hard time starting it out tight so then my shorter pieces of hair fall out and I look like a hot mess. Not cute. I think my hair needs to be a touch longer so that all of the pieces will stay in and look like the above images.
In the meantime, I was pretty excited to see that the Tory Burch Blog posted on the art of fishtailing the other day. This braid was seen on all of the pretty models walking the runway for Tory’s showcase of Spring 2013. Whether it was a single fishtail or two, the models looked perfectly whispy and bohemian. With Spring officially here (!!) this braid seems perfectly appropriate – a fresh take on the usual braid or french braid. Lucky for me (and you), hairstylist Eugene Souleiman gives us some pretty awesome instructions to creating this look all on your over on the Tory blog. I promise, its not as hard as it seems! I think I may attempt doing this on myself tomorrow morning – maybe a little hairspray will hold my hairs back? Happy fishtailing!
On another note, 7 For All Mankind is running a 30% off promotion on select denim and there’s lots of colorful goodness – including the floral pair that we both had to have.
