Is it just me, or does this time of year just seem beyond crazy? We had a wedding this weekend, have one next weekend, and have lots of other little events thrown into the mix as well. Lets just say that our weekends have been pretttyy jam packed. Then there’s graduation. It’s bananas. Shopping for a grad gift that is. To most, finding the perfect gift for a graduate can seem like a daunting task. You want it to be memorable and special, but useful all at the same time. It can’t be a completely random gift, as you want there to be a little bit of meaning behind it. Like, a great canvas weekend bag for visits home if its someone going off to college. Or a fresh set of Biscuit sheets for the college graduate we will most likely be in need of some brand spanking new bed linens. Personalized gifts always fit the bill for a graduate of any age. BaubleBar has darling monogram and initial jewelry that I wouldn’t mind owning myself. You can also find great initial Jewelry boxes, iPad cases, and a Claire Vivier Catch-All for loose change and jewelry. All of which would be useful and special for any graduate. Guys are a little tougher (per usual) when it comes to graduation gifts, but I love the idea of a great watch or a fresh new dop kit – both are things that they most likely won’t be buying for themselves. If all else fails, what guy doesn’t love a good gadget? We’re pretty much obsessed with our UP Bracelets, or an iPad is sure to knock their socks off.
When I graduated from high school 8 years ago (umm scary), my aunt and uncle gifted me a hand-painted ceramic piggy bank and put cash in it (didn’t find that out until years later!). The bank is the type where they only way to get the money out is to smash it. Over the years I have been filling it and filling it with loose change. Just last year I was walking by the bank and the light was shining just right and I noticed that there were some bills in there. Surprise!! Those sneaks. It made me all the more eager to smash that puppy open. I am so close to finally filling the bank to its brim. This JA Donkey Bank is pretty awesome and would be great for the same use. Just think, they’ll think of you every time they add to it:)
Whew! What a day. What a day. One of those long but good, really really good days. So I will make this one short and sweet. Lots of good finds this week and as always too many good sales to count. They need to stop with these darn sales so that my bank account can have a rest. That Anthrodress is amazing…I tried it on back in February when we had our event and it is so different and flattering on. Obviously now that it is on sale, I will probably have to buy it? Its one of those pieces that I know I will get lots of use in for both work and play. Since the Great Gatsby movie comes out this weekend (so so excited!!), I had to include Kate Spade’sGatsby Clutch. I’m off to Chipotle for dinner – the tummy is growling and I literally have zero food. Happy happy Thursday (night) chickens! xx!
It’s here, it’s here! Friday that is:) And so is a whole new grouping of things I can’t seem to take my mind off of. Really wishing that I had come across this Topshop dress in time to order for our Cinco de Mayo celebration this weekend – would have been quite fitting. As would the Tory bag that is too cool for words. Talk about a conversation starter. Although the bag may seem a bit “out there” to some, it really could be worn with just about anything throughout the summer. A couple of weekends ago we were able to meet adorable Emily who works for Tuckernuck (a must visit if you haven’t yet!) and she was sporting a pair of Visconti and Du Reau Manila Sandals that I could not stop staring at. They’re kind of everything, no? So is Kate Spade’s new cork iPad case. I love the fact that its neutral, yet so far from boring. It would make a fun gift, too! Speaking of gifts, who wouldn’t want a Zoology workspace accessory like a flamingo tape dispenser or seahorse scissors. Not kidding, I think I need these – I actually don’t own a tape dispenser so it must be meant to be? When our new bff Amber was in town a few weekends ago she religiously used and raved about Josie Maran’s Bohemian Waves hair mist that manages to turn her “straight as an arrow” hair into the perfect beachy waves. Buying some of this keeps moving further and further down on my to do list, but tomorrow is ze day. A trip to Sephora is in order for that and a product were both excited to try, Makeup Forever’s new Aqua Lip Pencil.
Yay for Friday and the fun weekend we have planned down in Houston en la casa de McCarthy!
