Lo & Sons

Weekending with the Catalina

I’m a bit of an anxious traveler.  It doesn’t matter if I’m going away for a week or just a weekend – I get really neurotic about packing and always want to be as organized as possible.  I’ll admit it: I over pack 99% of the time but I figure if I have what I need, I’ll be able to fully enjoy my trip and not worry about what it is I don’t have or left behind.  Because traveling is really about the journey… Packing is just what we have to do to get there!

Sally and I are very outspoken about the love and loyalty we have for Lo & Sons and our O.G./O.M.G. bags… They are the organized multi-functional solution to women that literally live out of a bag all day every day and I don’t want to know what would happen if I had to go back to traveling without one.  As great as they are as a shoulder bag, they don’t have the necessary space to be an ideal weekend bag.  Which is why I was ecstatic when our friends at Lo & Sons told us a couple of months ago that they had another bag in the works.  Called “The Catalina,” it was designed as a canvas duffle bag with specific elements that make it the ideal weekender.  Did we want to see it and try it for ourselves?  Le duh.

Lucky for me, right when The Catalina weekender hit my doorstep I was able to pack it up and take it to Houston for our Cinco de Mayo trip.  The bottom zipper pocket held my shoes and bulky hair tools while the roomy top part of the bag held the rest of my stuff; handy pockets on the outside and a zippered interior pouch helped me stay organized.  To me, it was perfect for my weekend getaway – easy to pack (the soft yet sturdy canvas doesn’t slump too much), light to carry, and the “laid back” look of it disguised the fact that it looked like I had stuffed it full of clothes for a full week versus just a two day weekend.

Since it’s almost time for summer travel – I highly recommend The Catalina for weekending and more importantly, day tripping to the beach.  Use the bottom pocket for your towel, and the top part for the rest and you have yourself an ideal, organized bag for sand and sun!  As if you needed any more reasons to try The Catalina out for yourself, Lo & Sons is offering all A Piece of Toast readers a 15% off discount on any in-stock products with the code APOTMAY2013 – good till the end of May.  Now all you need to do is plan a trip!
