I have a long-time love of Minnetonka Moccasins. It started with a pair of deerskin moccs in the champagne color that I got in high school (total copy-cat from my friend Annie)… The same pair took me through college until I wore them so much that the sole detached my Senior year, got all flip-floppy, and I tripped on them one fateful day and fell on my face. When my dad found out that the scrapes on my face weren’t the result of Halloween makeup he bought me a new pair of Minnetonkas (the same as before) and sent me a coupon for Mederma. Several things about this event stand out in my mind: 1) that I liked and wore one pair of shoes for longer than 6 six years and they stood up to a lot of wear and tear, 2) that I didn’t blame the fall on my moccasins, but rather my ability to walk like a human in my moccasins, and 3) that the cool factor of the deerskin Minnetonkas was still so solid that I needed a new pair to match my new face scrapes.
If you don’t have a love affair with Minnetonka – I want to be the first to make you become a devotee… The Minnesota-based was established is over 67 years ago – and the company has been producing high-quality, hand-made products since then. In recent years they’ve branched out of their comfort-zone of making wicked moccasins and now make both boots and sandals. When the good people (northerners = all good people, don’t you know) of Minnetonka reached out to us about trying some of their styles we didn’t already have, I was beside myself. Mainly because they didn’t just want Sally and I to test out the goods, but they wanted to share the moccasin love with you all with a giveaway!
