Since it’s wedding season, I’m guessing that many of you are like me and trying to figure out what you’ll be wearing as a guest to upcoming nuptials…  My strategy is to wear a comfortable but pretty dress (typically in softer, solid color) and add accessories that take it to the next level.  It keeps me from looking too overdone and I stay true to my style whether the attire is for a black tie, brunch, or creative cocktail.  A great place to look for both dresses and accessories is BHLDN.  A favorite of mine since it launched in the spring of 2011, the brand specializes in all things wedding and it’s a one-stop-shop for brides, guests, wedding party members, and planners.  I’ve always lusted after their jewelry pieces so I was thrilled when BHLDN asked if we wanted to do a giveaway with them.

How could we not?  Especially when the prize was the Cerasus Necklace I’m wearing in the photos above!  The feminine piece is equal parts delicate and bold – a gorgeous handmade number by Justin & Taylor it’s shiny brass, pearls, Swarovski crystals, glass beads make it the perfect accent for this time of year.  I threw it on with a simple grey number but can see it looking stunning with all kinds of colors and styles of dresses (I loove this navy one!).  Sadly, the necklace is just on loan for me – one of YOU lucky readers will be the one to call it yours!

To enter, simply visit BHLDN, and leave a comment on this post telling us what dress (from the selection of bridal gowns, party dresses, or wedding party frocks) you could see yourself pairing the Cerasus necklace with!  Entries must be posted by the end of day Wednesday, May 15th, and one winner will be chosen at random and announced on this post the following day.  Good luck!

[No purchase necessary to enter, open to US readers only. Please leave your email or web address in the allotted comment boxes only. $160+ total value. Winners of the giveaway will be contacted via email once the giveaway closes and announced on this post soon after.]

The Menagerie

Wednesday, February 20, 2013 SAM

There are two things that I know for sure – 1. Mol and I can’t be the only ones on the planet who have favorite animals and 2. We will never tire of dainty gold necklaces.  Yes and yes.  For as long as I can remember, Molly has had quite the love for all things pig.  So much so that it is almost a gurantee that she gets a pig ornament every year for christmas along with a multitude of piggy banks, bookends, West Elm speakers, you name it.  Although my animal love may not be quite as deep as hers is, it is indeed there.  For what creature you ask?  Ohh just a bunny.  My love for bunnies comes from receiving them year after year from the the Easter Bunny and forming quite the collection.  Couple that with the fact that I have created the pet name “bunny” for my pups and you’ve got Sally’s favorite animal.

Just this past weekend Mol and I were out and about and she all of a sudden gasped, “OMG have you seen the menagerie?” where I pretty much cut her off and responded, “Hellz yes I have and I want that bunny”.  True.  Story.  Ariel Gordon is known for her pretty dainty gold pieces featuring various stones, initials, and fun charms.  Ever since spying the tiny pieces on Samantha of Could I Have That?, I have been wanting to make one of Ariel’s pieces my own.  When I came across the artist’s Menagerie collection the other day and more importantly, the bunny necklace, I knew exactly what my first someday purchase would be.  In a perfect world Molly and I would get sister animal necklaces in the form of a piglet and bunny to love on our favorite creatures in a more sophisticated way than the usual stuffed animals and figurines.  Do any of you all have a favorite critter?  And more importantly, is it included in Ariel Gordon’s menagerie roundup?
