A Frenchie Day

May 16, 2012

If you’re ever at work and you’re just really stressed, or upset, or emotionless but overburdened – I highly (highly) suggest googling or Pinterest searching “Frenchie.”  Instant mood adjustor.  How can you not love life when you see those squishy faces and tiny puppies?!?!?  I have a few choice images printed and posted around my desk for extra good vibes throughout the day… Also, I almost did a little Frenchie puppy ‘napping (that’s short for kidnapping for all you law abiding peeps) last week when I got to cuddle a baby bulldog while sitting patio side with a bunch of…

Also, I almost did a little Frenchie puppy ‘napping (that’s short for kidnapping for all you law abiding peeps) last week when I got to cuddle a baby bulldog while sitting patio side with a bunch of fab Dallas girls.  Katie of Modern-Eve blog happened to snap an Instagram (3rd image from the top) before I handed the little pup back and if you can’t tell, that’s pure bliss written all over my face.

I need one of these dogs.  Or a dog.  Or an apartment that’s closer to work so I can have a dog and check on it halfway through the day.  Call me if you want to brainstorm options and ideas for operation “Molly gets a Frenchie.”

Weekend | Review

April 16, 2012

I swear, whenever I have big plans to be outside and by the pool for an entire weekend Mother Nature laughs in my face and sends enough clouds and rain that I resign myself to staying in the apartment all Saturday and Sunday.  At first I wasn’t pleased (guys, I am so pale I need some healthy color stat) but there were a lot of nice lazy, productive and fun things that happened this weekend, too so I can’t be all that upset… Sally and her boyfriend’s puppies made a rare weekend stay and since I’m the best aunt in…

Sally and her boyfriend’s puppies made a rare weekend stay and since I’m the best aunt in the world I got to spend lots of quality time babysitting them, cuddling with them and working on my dog voice.  I also switched out my dark fall/winter nail colors for my collection of spring/summer lights and neons – I like to keep my seasonal assortment sitting out so I can admire them (true) and I’m inspired to change my color regularly.  Don’t judge me.

AND I got to see one of my favorite Dallas blogger friends, Albertina of Mimosa Lane, for delicious lattés and a few hours of conversation at the Pearl Cup.  She’s kind of one of the sweetest people I know and after bonding over photography and taking the class together at the Spot Studio we became fast friends… She surprised me with a bag of homemade meringues that are now completely gone but were enjoyed while reading the latest (and fabulous) issue of F|D Luxe.  Check out Albertina’s bloggie today to learn how to make her yummy strawberry meringue triffle… Yum!

Aside from the above: new restaurants were visited, a birthday was celebrated, the bed was occupied for lots of naps, brownies were baked (at 8:30pm last night), Gypsy weddings were watched, and a new piggie necklace was worn non stop.  All in all it was a very nice but gloomy weekend.  How did you all fare?

Fancy a Frenchie

February 1, 2012

I know what some of you might be thinking… “13 images of French Bulldog puppies on a Wednesday morning… Isn’t that a bit… Excessive?”  No, no friends it is not.  I’ve had puppy fever in the worst kind of way and it reached an all time high when I was discussing puppies with my fab coworker Megan yesterday and we both said at the exact same time “I want a Frenchie.”  Truth be told I’d like a white lab AND a Frenchie but since my apartment is not a penthouse and I’ve never owned a dog before I have this…

I know what some of you might be thinking… “13 images of French Bulldog puppies on a Wednesday morning… Isn’t that a bit… Excessive?”  No, no friends it is not.  I’ve had puppy fever in the worst kind of way and it reached an all time high when I was discussing puppies with my fab coworker Megan yesterday and we both said at the exact same time “I want a Frenchie.”  Truth be told I’d like a white lab AND a Frenchie but since my apartment is not a penthouse and I’ve never owned a dog before I have this idea that a Frenchie would be the most logical first step.  Small problem: I don’t have work hours or live close enough to my office to allow to me give a puppy the proper care, love, attention, and training that are critical during those first months…  Stupid work/life balance thing.  But 2012 is a new year with new beginnings and I’m making it my mission to try and own a pup before these next 11 months are up (happy February, by the way).

Megan warned me that Frenchies have health issues/risks and Erin told me that they are notoriously hard to potty train (they’re not called “bull” dogs for nothing) but I just have this image in my head that my Frenchie and I would be the bestest of pals and training will be a total snap.  I find that visualizing things like this is the best way to make them happen.  Also, I could have posted about 17 more precious images of French Bulldogs that would make you squeal at the cuteness.  Just saying.  Just look at those faces!!  I want to squeeeeze them.  If any of you readers have a fab Frenchie just tell me how much you love them so I can further convince myself to taking the leap of getting one for myself.

P.S. I truly have no illusions about how hard it is to train puppies.  I swear I’m not just going to buy a pup, name it Rosebud and everything will be rainbows and hearts and snuggle sessions – puppies are serious business and they grow into dogs but I think I’m ready for this step!  And I really like the name Rosebud.

P.P.S. Did you all catch Erin’s Frenchie Chloe stealing the show of her Refinery 29 feature?  Die for her… Just look at her lounging in the second image from the bottom above!

Just Because

October 6, 2011

My boyfriend and I already have two dogs.  Two big dogs – labs.  And most people think that two is a lot to handle…but we’ve already decided that we eventually want three dogs.  At least.  Maybe four…who knows.  I have an obsession with pups.  So last night when he told me that he saw a sign while he was driving for Dachshund puppies for sale I about peed my pants.  Visions started flashing through my head of the other two dogs taking care of her and teaching her how to swim in the pool and cuddling with her.  Oh, and…

For whatever reason the two of us have always loved little Dachshunds and I think that they pair well with labs.  So last night, in an effort to convince R to randomly buy a puppy that we really don’t need right now, I started googling pictures of them and emailed them to him.  The subject line of the email?  “Introducing….PEARL.” Omg, am I a freak or what?

Clearly were not getting the dog:(  But here are some of my findings last night while googling my little heart out.  I couldn’t help but share.  Sidenote: Ashley Olson has a Dachshund.  As if I needed anymore convincing.

Dolly Digs Designer

August 3, 2011

My two year old yellow lab has a mind of her own.  I swear she is more human than dog.  She creates little piles of all of her “things” (aka toys, bones, you name it) and hides those things in bushes so no one will take them from her.  Instead of sleeping on the floor like a normal dog does (granted I have yet to bite the bullet and purchase her a nice dog bed after she shred her last one to pieces), she sleeps in an upholstered arm chair that we have now dubbed “Dolly’s chair”.  Ridiculous.  Although the…

Ridiculous.  Although the girl thinks she is the queen of quite a lot, she isn’t the cleanest pup around.  In fact she really enjoys rolling in cow p-o-o-p (don’t ask) and only puts it on her neck (doggie perfume), which in turn ruins all of her adorable Ella Dish collars I have bought her.  We have just killed Ella Dish collar number three and at $32 a piece I am not pleased.

So, in an attempt to save money and not be so wasteful with the collars and dollars, I bought her a cute medium purple colored $12.99 collar from “The Barkery” when I was in Kansas City the other weekend.  I thought, “great, this is a little bit darker than her usual light colored collars and it will totally last, never look dirty, etc, etc”.  Welp.  The collar is gone.  Just vanished.  Less than a week of wearing it and she has decided that it is not suitable to her liking?  My boyfriend told me that it is the, “Old Navy version of collars” and that Dolly doesn’t do plain collars.  No words.

So now my naked pup is running around without her signature “necklace” and I am left to find her a new, suitable collar.  Preferably by a designer and not a “no-namer”.  I am hoping that this Wagwear canvas collar with a reflective stripe (the green and pink version) will be to her liking.  Durable, yet cute at the same time.
