Simple Meets Bold + Bright

May 2, 2017

Keeping it short and sweet today...because this simplistic (but not basic) HATCH dress and bold + bright Loeffler Randall sandals kind of speak loud and clear for themselves. I'm not sure which piece I fell in love with first but the two work together pretty perfectly.

I wasn’t sure if the modern asymmetrical hemline and slouched side of the Highline Dress would look quite right on me (the body-hugging dresses are more Molly’s thing) but it looked so cute on the models, I wanted to give the sleeveless style a try (because sleeveless is essential for the Dallas heat). I’m so glad I scooped it up because it’s so, so comfortable and easy to wear. Love that it can be transformed from super casual (with sneakers), dressed up (with a wedge), or made to be in between with sandals like the ones I have on here.

These sandals…I fell for them as soon as LR dropped their SS17 collection. The fact that they’re called “The Sal” wasn’t lost on me – I knew they had to make their way to my closet! They’re just so happy and bright, and I’m crazy for the bold statement the itty bitty pompoms make.

The Drape Dress

May 1, 2017

If there's one piece from my beloved assortment of HATCH Collection that Molly likes to steal borrow the most, it's this Jersey Drape Dress. I can't really blame her...it's the softest jersey cotton and feels like you're wearing a cloud. The drop shoulder + fitted sleeves + loose and swingy body + curved shirttail hem is such a winning combination and makes it feel unbelievably comfortable while still looking flattering. I know I'm probably a broken record at this point when it comes to talking about maternity wear - but having pieces like this dress (which is truly designed to be worn before, during, and after pregnancy) is really nice because I know I can wear it again and again postpartum. Whether you have a 40 week baby bump (like me) or just like a comfy shirt dress (like Molly) chances are, you'll love this dress. I may or may not be buying it in a couple more colors!

In other news, my husband and I are starting our move today. The day before my due date. Thank goodness we have family to help us do some whirlwind nesting before baby boy decides to make his arrival. Wish us luck!

Styling Maternity Jean Shorts

April 28, 2017

I was slightly worried that I would look and feel a little ridiculous wearing jean shorts while pregnant...jean shorts can be a tricky thing to wear even when you're not growing a baby so I fully prepared myself to try on the maternity pair I ordered from Gap, have a laugh, then promptly return them. To my surprise, I didn't hate them. They don't fit like a normal pair of shorts might - but at this point, hardly anything fits like "normal" thanks to my big bump - but it's been so easy to style them with my lose-fitting tops and I especially like getting to tuck in the front part of shirts.

Speaking of tops, this off the shoulder jersey shirt is from HATCH and I loooove it. So soft and comfy - it's really an awesome piece for wearing year round and I'm thinking I may need to get it in the grey or black because I've been wearing it so much (and because Molly keeps stealing it to wear for herself!).

Stripe Maternity Sun Dress

April 24, 2017

I love ASOS as a place to find pieces that may be a bit "trendier" for a lower price tag. This has been especially true with their maternity pieces - they have lots of great items for under $100, even under $50 like this dress! Come spring and summer, I find it hard to resist a great blue dress. Make it striped and I'm bound to like it even more. I was pretty pleased when I found this guy because most (ok, almost all at this point) of my casual blue sun dresses from last year are currently a little too small for this bump. This one was able to fill that void for the duration of my pregnancy and at a really reasonable price tag.

We’re now a week out from my due date, but know that it could still be even two weeks before this baby decides to make his appearance. Although we truly felt “ready” for a baby since the very beginning, the end seems completely surreal. Its hard to believe that it really could be any day now that we meet our little angel boy who has been growing in my tummy for the past 9 months – who we’ve been talking to, singing to, playing music for, and visualizing in our lives.

Nellie is Nice

April 20, 2017

At this point, our/my love for all things HATCH is no secret. I had really tried to limit my maternity purchases and make what I had in my closet work, up until discovering the brand, which is now my latest obsession. What I love most about HATCH is that their products are made to fit you before, during, and after your pregnancy making it the best possible purchase while pregnant. I remember visiting our local Pea in the Pod to buy jeans and watching women spend so.much money on items that they could only wear while pregnant - items super specific to pregnant women. Although these pieces are great and practical, I just couldn't wrap my head around doing this - with the exception of my jeans of course, which are a no-brainer and truly not optional! I wanted to be able to make items in my closet work or spend money on pieces that I could wear after giving birth. This has been easy with HATCH because I know that every piece from them is an actual investment piece that I can wear now, postpartum, and later on. Each style is also timeless enough that they could be worn for future pregnancies, which I love. Even with only a few weeks left in my pregnancy, I am still pining for pieces of theirs because I know that I would actually continue to wear them!

HATCH’s Nellie dress has become an instant favorite of mine. The swingy, light chambray dress is comfortable and flattering in all the right places. The darling grosgrain-trimmed, ruffle sleeves are right up my alley and the perfect compliment to the chambray. I love the fact that it has pockets, too, which is always an added bonus in my book. I have absolutely zero doubts that I will continue to wear the Nellie dress throughout the summer here in Dallas, seeing as I’ve already worn it once a week thus far! HATCH truly does make it easy to feel put together while pregnant, even at 38+ weeks!
