Silk Shirtdress

April 5, 2017

As someone who loves being comfortable and lives for pajamas and robes, I really appreciate when a designer makes pieces that are just as soft and cozy as my favorite bed clothes but perfectly created for everyday wear. Micaela Meyer is on a mission to master the shirtdress (I love her Kensington Dress in white!) and the Bloomsbury Silk Shirtdress isn't just beautifully cut in with her signature details (finished band collar, French seams, dropped shoulders and an inverted back pleat) but it honestly feels like I could be wearing a nightgown - it's that comfortable. The 100% silk charmeuse is so luxurious and lightweight, if it weren't for the fit and finish, I would have to do a double take before leaving the house.

I wore this exact outfit last weekend for dinner out with girlfriends to celebrate a birthday and it was the perfect thing for both the occasion and this time of year. I’m obsessed with pairing navy with black and love how the midnight Bloomsbury silk plays with the black Ellie sandals both in texture and color. Trust me…you need a dress like this in your closet and in your life!

Carnival Dress

April 3, 2017

I cannot believe it's already April (did this new month seem sneak up on anyone else?) and that I'm now just four weeks away from my due date. I've heard from my doctors that the next few weeks could be where I start to feel "get this baby out of me!" vibes but as of today, I'm still feeling really good (both mentally and physically).

The dress I'm wearing isn't actually a maternity style...I stumbled upon it while doing a lap around Shopbop several weeks ago (a favorite insomnia activity) and thought it would be great for my bump and worthy of a gift card I had been holding on to. My suspicions were spot on: the smocked bodice is super comfortable and the slightly flared skirt and mini style is perfect to accommodate a belly (unlike shorter non-maternity styles which can ride up!).

I loved the fit and look of the Carnival Dress so much that I ended up wearing it this past Saturday for the shower Molly and Hannah hosted for me in Dallas. It got paired with a pretty scarf in shades of blue and I love how it went from casual to dressed up so easily. The best part? I’ll be wearing the dress so much when I’m postpartum and hopefully for many seasons to come!

P.S. Don’t forget, Molly, Hannah and I are hosting a fantastic pop-up shopping event with HATCH and The Tot TOMORROW (April 4th) at The Loveliest! Stop by to shop or even just hang with us and enjoy a cupcake (or two, or three) from Bird Bakery!!

Crochet Bell Sleeves

March 27, 2017

It's taken me way too long to post this Crochet Bell Sleeve Top...but the good news is that it's now on sale! The smaller sizes are sold out but honestly, I would recommend sizing up since it's more of a cropped style and it's a teeny bit tricky to take on and off because of the lack of a zipper or buttons. It comes with a little tank to wear under but that too is very cropped - so much so that I pair it with this one so that it will stay tucked in. Though the bell sleeves are on the trendy side, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to add a "going out" top with such great detail and at such a great price to my closet...I've already worn it multiple times with high waisted skinny jeans and the flares you see here!

Did I mention that the top also comes in a pale pink and white?

Le Bodysuit

March 23, 2017

I know that I touch my hair a lot in my photos (bad habits die hard) but I'm touching it wayyy too much in these pics because it was super windy outside while Sally and I were shooting and my locks were going nuts. Aside from that random note, I'm excited to be sharing this look. Specifically due to the fact that I'm in love with this henley bodysuit I finally scooped up from Madewell after waiting and waiting for them to dish out a discount (why so stingy Madewell? Be like your big sister J.Crew and throw us some steals more often? Side note: J.Crew is offering 30% off in store and online - code HAPPYSPRING. Boom.). Alas, the Well isn't currently running a promo but this bodysuit is worth ever penny of its $55 price tag.

Here’s what I like love about this bodysuit: you can wear a bra with it (some bodysuits have scooped fronts and backs that make this impossible), it snaps at the bottom for easy, er, functionality (no having to get naked when you go to the bathroom, win!), and there are three rows of snaps for extra adjustability (long torso girls and short torso ladies rejoice), and the ribbed material is hold-you-in-stretchy but also super soft. There’s only drawback…it’s a full-seat bottom and you can sorta kinda almost see the outline on the tush in some jeans.

What else? I’ve got nothing. Happy almost Friday!

Slouchy Pocket Shirt

March 21, 2017

Full disclosure, Molly and I took these shots a couple weeks ago. And now that I'm 34 (!!!) weeks my belly is a bit bigger growing by the day...and it feels a little bit like I'm dressing with a basket ball. Flowy tops like the slouchy pocket one I'm wearing here (under $70!) often feel the most comfortable when I'm trying to look a little more dressy. And now that Dallas is starting to get really warm - yesterday it was in the 90s and today it's going to be the same - my white maternity jeans are getting worn even more!
