Tippi + Britni

March 7, 2017

I mentioned in this Current Vibes post that I had recently scooped up not one but two of J.Crew's very basic but very great Tippi Sweater. Weeks have passed since then (nearly six to be exact) and I wear the merino wool sweaters so often it's slightly crazy that one of them is just now making an appearance in a post. Here you see "hthr smoke" - a wonderful grey - and "ivory" is the other hue I bought and wore just as regularly. Same sweater in two neutral colors...boring? Basic? I say "genius!" Nothing wrong with having a simple classic sweater in two tones that can be paired with colorful accessories. Like the Britni Pom Bon Earrings from The Loveliest I also can't stop wearing.

Note: the Tippi Sweater comes in a wide range of colors from the most perfect baby pink and olive to traditional black and a few neon hues, too. Many are on sale (as low as $40!) and I highly suggest trying one out. Warning…you might end up buying more than one like I did. The fit is just that nice.

Another Note: the selection of Pom Pon Earrings by Carter G. that The Loveliest carries is especially wonderful because many of the color combinations – like the Emerald, Mint, Salmon, and Ochre pair I have – are exclusive to the to The Loveliest. Kelsey and Britni have such a wonderful way of mixing colors and I could easily buy and wear every three and four tiered pair!

Gingham + Ties

March 6, 2017

I mentioned last week that I was finally feeling the need to invest in a few maternity tops as most of the tops I was getting away with wearing are becoming too short. Truly, what I am waiting for, is weather warm enough to live in my favorite sleeveless tops and dresses from Mi Golondrina that I know will fit my bump until the veryyy end. In the meantime, I've found some pretty great transitional tops to get me through the back and forth weather that is Dallas at the moment. This gingham number from Topshop has been one of my absolute favorite (and the most worn!) maternity tops that I've bought.

Gingham is definitely having a moment this season, yet its also such a classic and timeless print, so I knew that this guy was going to be a good buy. I will be able to wear it even when I’m not pregnant and for future pregnancies as the print will never go out of style. Lately, I’ve been tucking this top in, but as time goes on and I fill it out more, I’ll probably go untucked;) I also think it would be pretty cute with jean shorts when the weather warms up – and lets be real, once I coat my legs in some sunless tanner.

Pre-Spring Layering

March 2, 2017

Dallas is kind of famous for its yo-yo temperatures. It can be 80 degrees one day then in the 40s the next. Poor us, right? I know people get so sick of hearing us Dallas dwellers complain (my brother is constantly reminding us how good we have it compared to the frigid weather he has in Chicago) but the up and down is just kind of weird to live with.

Anyway, the point of this post is that the temperature swings mean that I'm still in layering mode and this long cardigan is my go-to. You might remember me styling it back in December via this post. I'm happy to say that it's been one of the best purchases I made of the winter season. It's great over long sleeves (wore it this way while visiting Chicago last weekend) but equally perfect with a silk tank as you see here...

Softest Stripes for the Bump

February 27, 2017

I'll be 31 weeks tomorrow and am feeling a mix of surreal anticipation as we get closer and closer to our due date. Dressing my growing belly has been...interesting. I mentioned a few weeks ago that bump panel maternity jeans (these and these) were one of my only true "maternity" clothing buys - but now that it's harder to wear my non-maternity blousy tops and oversized shirts (mainly because they get too short) I scooped up a few tops specially designed for le bump and am loving how comfy they are. Case and point with the striped HATCH bateau shirt you see here. It's pretty fitting that the shirt is called the "Date Night Top" because I wore it recently on a date with my husband. We've really been trying to keep the routine of getting out of the house Thursday nights for dinner in hopes that we'll continue the date night after our bebe arrives.

I’ve always been a fan of off the shoulder tops – and have a nice collection in my closet – but the bateau knit of The Date Night Top makes it ultra comfortable and super soft. It’s almost like wearing a fave t-shirt but the shoulder-baring style and easy stripes take it up a notch!

Black, Navy + Baby Stripes

February 21, 2017

Black and navy is one of my all time favorite color combos...almost a subtle tone-on-tone but the navy softens the black a little bit. It's not, however, an easy look for me to wear considering all the white dog hair floating around me at all times. I managed to get said white fluff off the jeanssilk tee, and blazer for this ensemble with the help of a heavy-duty lint roller. Many sticky sheets later, I added black and white striped drop earrings for some added interest to an otherwise clean and classic look!
